Why We Like This Place

If your wedding vision includes a barn, gardens and vineyards in the Wine Country, Healdsburg Country Gardens offers the perfect setting. It’s also just a mile and a half from Healdsburg Plaza, so guest accommodations, shops and restaurants are only a short drive away.

As you walk through the “tunnel” of rose-covered arches at the venue’s entrance, you’re completely enveloped by its fragrant beauty. And when you emerge from this magical walkway, the scenery only gets better.

What greets you is a lush rose garden with flowers, ancient oaks and a historic redwood barn. Walkways wind through lawns bordered by beds of vibrant lavender, phlox, zinnias and dahlias, past a bubbling fountain and an aviary filled with colorful birds. Framing this gorgeous tableau are sweeping views of the estate vineyards, which are visible from almost everywhere in the garden.

Four spacious event areas—the barn, rose garden and ceremony and dining lawns—flow together seamlessly, so guests can easily mix and mingle. Couples get married under a majestic oak, while guests seated on the adjacent shady lawn admire the vineyards in the background. Afterwards, drinks and hors d’oeuvres are served under the grape arbor on the barn’s wraparound terrace. During the cocktail hour, everyone has an opportunity to do what suits their mood: stroll through the gardens, sit with friends among the flowers, take in the vineyard panorama, or check out the barn’s interior.

For the reception, tables are arranged on a large shaded lawn in the center of the event areas. While they dine, guests enjoy views of the the barn lit up behind them, the vineyards, towering oaks and gardens.

The site’s focal point is the historic four-story redwood barn. Built in 1902, it has huge doors on two sides that open to vistas of the gardens and vineyards. Walls are adorned with bouquets of lavender, and the excellent acoustics will enhance the music your band or DJ is playing. A bar can be set up inside or on the wraparound terrace, and the interior is also ideal for a cocktail table setup as well as a dessert or cake display. At night, tiny white lights in the terrace’s arbor and soft lighting inside the barn and throughout the gardens add a romantic glow. The pervasive sense of intimacy and seclusion here makes this Healdsburg estate irresistible.

Some of the best photo opportunities are in the Zinfandel Vineyards, a few steps from the rose garden. One of the most popular backdrops is the charming potting shed, decorated with vintage items and surrounded by flowers. Another choice spot is in front of the rustic windmill at the edge of the grapevines. In late afternoon, the vineyards become a photographer’s dream scene, bathed in the golden light of the setting sun. “First looks” are often shot at the adorable Wine Country Cottage, nestled in the garden. It also serves as a a dressing room for brides, and it’s where they usually begin their walk down the aisle.

Healdsburg Country Gardens specializes in just one kind of event: beautiful Wine Country weddings. So come and walk through the tunnel of roses—what you’ll find on the other side is a private haven that can be exclusively yours for a day!
