Why We Like This Place
With a rich history and honors from top publications like Travel + Leisure, the Half Moon Bay Golf Links is one of the most prestigious championship golf resorts in California—and it’s also one of the most beautiful. Comprised of 300 acres of parkland, lakes, breathtaking oceanside bluffs and beach access, the Links are understandably a favorite with couples in search of an incomparable setting for their celebration.
For a phenomenal ceremony, choose from several view-filled locales right on the golf course. The Oceanview Practice Green embraces an astonishing coastal panorama, while in the opposite direction, a landscaped pond with a weathered brick canal looks like an artist’s watercolor. Another stunning choice is the Old Course 18th Tee. Couples pledge their vows on a gentle rise at the edge of a dramatic cliff dotted with native wildflowers, as the surf crashes against the shore below. These vistas are so cinematic that they’ve been featured in major motion pictures.
Marrying at the Links has its privileges, and one of the most enticing is a custom “photographic tour” of their exclusive and oh-so-picturesque grounds. During the cocktail hour, the newlyweds are chauffeured to a variety of positively awe-inspiring backdrops, including a golden sand beach for those romantic “frolicking in the sand and surf” portraits. Just imagine how magnificent your wedding album will be!
Meanwhile, friends and family mingle on a manicured lawn that sweeps from the banks of the pond. Amethyst salvia, rose bushes and lithe reeds line the shore as duck families paddle by, putting the finishing touch on this the fairytale tableau.
The inviting Mullins Bar & Grill accommodates your reception in several adjoining areas. The bar is a great spot for the band and dance floor, while guests look on from the cozy Fireplace Lounge with leather club chairs clustered around a hearth. Curtains separate (or open up to) the Dining Room, a comfortable yet refined space where everyone can relax and enjoy the party. Large westward facing windows frame the Pacific, the perfect accompaniment to gourmet cuisine. The banquet team knows how to dress a table, too, using Chiavari chairs and luxurious linens to set a stylish tone. Doors open from the Dining Room to a brand new Oceanview Deck for scenic outdoor gatherings. On weekends, the poignant notes of a bagpiper at the neighboring Ritz-Carlton usher in the sunset. (Another benefit of having the Ritz next door—luxurious accommodations and a spa are within easy walking distance.)
The event pros at the Links can take you beyond the traditional with innovative rehearsal dinners or farewell brunches. How about a “drive-in movie night,” with guests relaxing in convertible golf carts beneath customized keepsake blankets, as “carhop” waiters on roller-skates ply them with cotton candy and buttered popcorn? Fancy a game of nighttime “glow-in-the-dark” golf? Or a private round of play on one of their award-winning courses? Ask and ye shall receive at Half Moon Bay Golf Links.
In fact, with only one wedding at a time the staff strives to exceed your expectations. From complimentary valet service to an optional rose petal send-off for the newlyweds, they go out of their way to make you feel pampered and appreciated. And that’s almost as impressive as the views!
