Why We Like This Place
This wine country destination is a rare “triple threat” venue that offers a lovely outdoor wedding site, full-scale dinner and reception facilities, and inviting accommodations for family and guests. The inn provides all of this at a terrific price point—and that’s even before you add in other amenities, such as an excellent restaurant, the Hoffman House right next door (where many newlyweds eat their first breakfast together as a married couple), a swimming pool and plenty of parking. Catering is done on site by the Hoffman House, and the kitchen uses ingredients from all over Sonoma County’s great breadbasket, an agricultural wonderland that consistently produces many of the country’s finest vegetables, meats and dairy products. This award-winning restaurant has won six gold medals for its food at the regional Harvest Fair.
The inn offers a pair of lawns for ceremonies and receptions. Each is partially covered by shade cloth so that tents aren’t needed during summer months. The smaller lawn is bordered by low hedges and ornamental trees. The larger one is a long, wide expanse of beautifully tended grass that sidles right up to a vineyard on two sides. Bordered by three white wooden arbors, it looks lovely when set with tables for an afternoon or evening meal. The main arbor, which is surrounded by wild roses and decorated with iron railings and Japanese-style lamps, is a superb spot for a head table or exchanging vows. A ceremonial gateway at the opposite end of the lawn lends an element of drama—brides often use it to make their entrance, then begin a stately march the length of the lawn. And we can’t overlook the view from here: a green panorama of the tree-covered Mayacamas Hills in the distance.
We doubt you’ll need any additional enticements to stay at the inn, but there is one more: a choice of three luxury suites for the bridal couple, set apart from the main building and next to the lawns. All of them feature a private entrance and patio or deck, along with sweeping views of the vineyards. Each also has HDTV and a Jacuzzi, and two have a fireplace and wetbar. The main building also offers junior suites with patios or decks.
Geyserville Inn is the only facility in the area that can easily combine so many services and conveniences under one roof. But the inn’s attractive amenities are not the only reason to come here; there’s also the powerful appeal of the wine country itself, with its earthy, romantic cachet. The small town of Geyserville adds considerably to the allure: It has a rural look and feel, with no cookie-cutter homes, large developments or chain stores. Slick hasn’t arrived here yet, and the locals are proud that so many out-of-towners feel drawn to this rustic setting.
Geyserville Inn is the kind of place you look for when you want a simple, no-hassle wedding. All of its components work so well together that it’s easy to imagine settling in and letting capable hands take care of you, from your rehearsal dinner to that wonderful first bite of post-wedding brunch.
