Why We Like This Place

If you love the sea, you’ve probably fantasized about spending time at a private beach house with the sand right outside your door and seals and pelicans as your only neighbors. You’ve pictured yourself admiring ocean views and spectacular sunsets from your front porch, and gathering friends and family around an evening bonfire, with the sublime setting putting everyone in a summertime state of mind no matter what the time of year.

Well, the event professionals at Monterey Beach Party (MBP) can cheerfully make your fantasy a reality, at least for your wedding day. They’ve been arranging festivities-to-remember for years, and many of the most memorable have happened at the historic Del Monte Beach House.

Located next to a waterfront park and wharf, and within walking distance to Monterey hotels and activities, the beach house is a simple cloud-colored building trimmed in sailor blue. Steps from its broad front deck descend onto the sand, and since Monterey Beach Party lays claim to its own stretch of this pristine shoreline, they’ll set up your event right at the water’s edge.

Ceremonies are accompanied by a palm tree-lined wedding aisle, white padded chairs, a classic wooden wedding arch and the blue Pacific. Drinks and appetizers are served on the deck, and while the bridal party poses for scenic photos the staff sets up the outdoor reception. The usual motif includes tiki torches, a bonfire and colorful beach chairs, and the beach site can accommodate up to 1,000 guests. Want fire and hula dancers? Ask, and Monterey Beach Party will make it happen. This is also one of the only local beaches that allow cocktails—so bring on the paper umbrellas!

Inside the beach house, social hours and receptions are anything but dull thanks to a myriad of novelty attractions: Ping pong, pool, shuffleboard and a “surf’s up” photo backdrop are all sure-fire icebreakers. If you prefer a more elegant ambiance, the staff will remove the games and have everything looking fancy as you please. The newly renovated interior features light, faux-finished floors, open-beamed ceilings and pillars clad in bamboo. Most couples like to play up the beachy theme by choosing tropical colors from a wide array of linens and other vibrant décor. Just ask the staff for help and ideas!

A stage at one end of the room is outfitted with a rear projection screen and a state-of-the-art lighting and sound system. Amp up the entertainment by booking the house DJ or band, who will “wow” your guests with cool tunes and a light show.

MBP also takes care of the food, which is both hearty and delicious: Entrées are grilled fresh during your event, and whether you opt for the Luau Feast, Lobster Bash or Clam Bake, your guests are sure to be satisfied.

And here’s a thought: If you’re planning a formal affair at another Monterey venue, why not change things up by reserving the Del Monte Beach House for your rehearsal dinner? Their inclusive event packages and high-caliber service are not only a tremendous value, they practically guarantee good times. Lots of venues can host a wedding…but if you want a party, then this is the place.

Fees & Deposits

A $1,500 nonrefundable deposit is due at the time of booking. 100% of the estimated total is due 30 days prior to the event, and any remaining balance is due on the business day following the event.

Their all-inclusive wedding package is $100/person and includes the site fee, beach ceremony, beach party reception, choice of 4 menu options, cake-cutting fee, assorted beverages and bar setup and more, plus tax and service charge. Alcohol is additional.
