Why We Like This Place

Want a wedding that’s a little urban, a bit Euro, and a lot stylish? Cypress Hotel is proof that you don’t have to go to San Francisco to carry it off. Located in the heart of Cupertino, this facility manages to be both elegant and private amid the mid-town towers of industry that surround it.

On weekends, when the office workers are all at home, the place lends itself to a picturesque outdoor ceremony. The hotel sits on a large plaza graced with an enormous circular fountain, linked to a large belvedere by a stone-paved walkway. Stage your ceremony on the walkway facing the belvedere, or at the top of the steps that sweep around the stone fountain, forming an amphitheater.

The interior of the hotel is neo-Euro style, favoring deep golds and crimsons with walnut accents. The opulent living room off the lobby makes an intimate setting for photos, with its lush drapes, grand fireplace and collection of roomy overstuffed sofas and armchairs. You can serve cocktails and appetizers in the long lobby foyer, airy with French doors and lit by creatively designed wrought-iron sconces and chandeliers.

Receptions unfold in the Grand Ballroom, which echoes the rest of the hotel in the richness of its décor. Mirrors, drapes and huge alabaster chandeliers create a warm, yet stately, atmosphere. There’s plenty of room for a band or DJ, and the hotel provides a dance floor. The Ballroom has its own sound system, and you don’t have to worry about partying too loudly—you’re far enough from the guestrooms that you won’t disturb the hotel’s other patrons. In the Parkview Ballroom, celebrations are enhanced by natural light and a lovely view.

Park Place, Cypress Hotel’s well-regarded restaurant, caters the events. Their menu, true to the diverse community of Silicon Valley, features a wide selection of international delicacies, from curry potato samosas to babaghanoush to roast prime rib of beef to chocolate decadence. The selection is broad enough to satisfy any preference.

The Cypress Hotel is primarily a business hotel (although it looks far too chic to be one), which means that there are usually plenty of rooms available for out-of-town guests on a weekend. The Grand Suite for the bride and groom is beautifully appointed. Make the most of it by enjoying an in-room spa massage, followed by a relaxing soak in the Jacuzzi tub along with complimentary champagne and chocolates.

Pricing here is extremely competitive, parking is free and the ambiance is up-to-date and fresh. Cypress Hotel is a big-city venue in the ‘burbs that appeals to both the senses and the pocketbook.
