Bodega Bay Wedding Venue
565 Smith Brothers Road
Bodega Bay, California 94923
West of Petaluma, there’s a scenic two-lane road that takes you through rolling hills and past dairy farms and sheep ranches until you reach the Sonoma coast and Bodega Bay. This beautiful seaside outpost has a relaxed, small-town charm that’s perfectly epitomized by its local landmark, Bodega Harbour Yacht Club.
Housed in a historic cedar-plank building, the Yacht Club is tucked between a copse of cypress trees and the bay. The building rests on sturdy pilings directly over the water, so visitors looking out the floor-to-ceiling windows often feel as though they’re floating on the sea.
These tall windows frame the yacht club’s centerpiece stone fireplace, whose bold fieldstone façade soars to the ceiling. Guests can’t resist sitting on its wide hearth to chat and enjoy refreshments, either during a welcome reception or the cocktail hour. The entire space, including the supporting columns and crossbeams, is strikingly finished in knotty cedar, and the overall effect is one of rustic elegance and warmth.
Though some couples exchange vows at St. Teresa’s church (immortalized by photographer Ansel Adams) in the nearby town of Bodega, many choose to wed next to the fireplace in front of the bayfront windows, often while a glorious sunset paints the horizon. For those who want to combine romance and nature, the club also offers ceremonies right on the beach. In fact, this is the only venue in all of Sonoma County with its own beach ceremony site! For the reception, the party moves upstairs to a wood-lined mezzanine-style room overlooking the first floor’s dramatic glass-and-stone surfaces.
An exciting new reception option is the adjacent Waterfront Pavilion, which hosts large parties of up to 300 right at the water’s edge. With the sound of the waves lapping just a few feet away, and the glow of the moonlight on the bay visible through the clear side panels, the atmosphere is quite alluring.
You and your guests will also appreciate the professional catering services, including a customized menu and cuisine prepared by the chef of the club’s own Bluewater Bistro. The experienced event staff will assist you throughout the planning process, and know how to make the most of this wonderfully unique location.
Few places like Bodega Harbour Yacht Club exist on the waterfront between San Francisco and Mendocino. Its architectural beauty, bayside location and scenic harbor views make it a natural for couples seeking a tranquil, yet inspirational, setting.
