Why We Like This Place
The short drive into the San Jose foothills and the winding, olive-lined driveway will not prepare you for the sweep and grandeur of the view from Bella Montagna. Standing at the site where bride and groom exchange vows is like standing on top of the world, with vistas of the peaks of the Santa Cruz Mountains to the west, and on a clear day, the spires of San Francisco and the glittering waters of the bay to the north. No wonder couples can’t wait to get married here.
Once guests arrive outside this classic California-adobe villa and their cars are whisked away by valets, they enter through a wide porte-cochère into a grassy arena ringed by trees. But the sparkling vista of the Santa Clara Valley remains Bella Montagna’s centerpiece—until the bride appears to steal the show.
The grounds are impeccably landscaped with Italian cypress and olive trees, a vineyard and Old World stone, giving the property a very distinct taste of Tuscany. Add to this the warm glow of the home’s natural adobe brick walls and the golden rolling hills, and you’ll have a hard time believing you’re only minutes away from a city.
A handsome curving deck under the canopy of a grand old tree allows guests to admire the view prior to the event, and provides more than ample space for musicians during the ceremony. The grassy seating area is dappled with shade from the trees for much of the day.
Bella Montagna is the home of Victor and Stacie Klee, who decided to make their rustic villa available for outdoor weddings after one of their friends had a spectacularly successful wedding on the property. They built a special bride’s dressing room/salon where the bride and her attendants can take advantage of Stacie’s professional services as a beautician. The Klees’ attentions will make you feel as though you’re spending the day with family friends.
Bella Montagna is indeed a welcome retreat from the everyday world below. The panorama is majestic, and the sound of rustling leaves and the warmth of the setting make it an intimate and peaceful place. A wedding at this private estate is like having your celebration with all the comforts of home—if your home was perched on a hillside with a breathtaking 45-mile view.
