With a background in interior design and a comprehensive design degree, Mary Phan of Very Merry Events is known for being one of the most creative and innovative event designers or planners around. She uses her artistic sensibilities to design modern, glamorous, cutting-edge events uniquely tailored to each bride. She strives to create a fresh aesthetic for each individual event—no cookie-cutter weddings here! Her brides say Mary offers such a personalized service that they feel like they are her only client. She’ll even hand-sketch incredible images of your ideas so you can visualize what your wedding will look like during the planning process.

Very Merry Events provides full event design + full planning packages, partial planning, and month-of coordination. Month-of coordination packages start at $1850 for their associate planners.

What 3 words best describe your work? Creative, artistic, personalized.

Why should someone hire you? I'm passionate about creating awe-inspiring events that tell my couples’ stories. I am a believer in love and celebrating in style. If design is important to you, I'm the designer and planner for you!

What is the best advice you give a couple when planning their wedding? Hire wedding professionals whose work you admire and respect. Trusting your vendors is KEY to wedding sanity. Also, to avoid wedding planning burn-out, set realistic goals and talk about things that are important must-haves, and give yourself a break every once in a while. There is life outside of wedding planning, though it may not feel like it at times.

What makes a wedding memorable for you? Celebrating two people finding love and the joining of their families is a huge blessing to witness. I especially love hearing personalized vows and tear-jerking toasts and speeches—these get me every time!

What are 3 words that describe your personality? Fun, down-to-earth, compassionate.

What’s your favorite way to wind down after a hard day? Being silly and hanging out with my two boys and husband is the best way for me to wind down after a long day. No matter how hard or long my day is, coming home to their faces makes it all worth it.
