“It’s fair to say the most memorable and differentiating factor of my wedding that I still hear about to this day was having The Laugh Box there.”
“Best money I’ve ever spent!!!!”
“The unique things about The Laugh Box are their props and how they work the crowd. It’s not a typical booth, where you walk in, take your picture and wait for the finished product. This is an experience. You walk in, and immediately start laughing from being so silly, take several pictures and get a keepsake that will last a lifetime.”
“The Laugh Box was affordable, fun, useful and energetic good fun and entertainment for our guests.”
“They were the best vendor we had—we loved them.”
“There was a line to use the booth the entire evening—many guests used it multiple times.”
“Our guests had a blast with it, especially with the various props. If guests didn’t like their photo, Dexter and his assistant would snap another until they were satisfied.”
“Dexter was amazing to work with. He was so easy to get a hold of, so patient, and extremely friendly.”
“I know every time I took a peek, there was always someone inside taking a picture. I also noticed everyone laughing as they came out, definitely a sign of a great time.”
“The Laugh Box package pricing was more competitive/comprehensive than the competitors, and Dexter’s customer service was far superior.”
“Even my grandmother loved the Laugh Box and I have proof :)”
What 3 words describe your work? Fun, innovative, quality.
Tell us about your company name. I wanted a name that would reflect the feeling one would get when entering either our live photo booth or flipbooks studio. Without a doubt, after our guests take photos or video for our flipbooks, they understand why we're called The Laugh Box.
Why should someone hire you? Aside from our unique service of using a live photographer for our photo booth and our unique flipbooks in general, we pride ourselves on our level of customer service. We always have 2 attendants for every wedding to ensure our photos or flipbooks are produced quickly, efficiently, and with high quality.
What are the common misconceptions about your services? The main misconception about our photo booth service is that, just like standard photo booths, everything is automated and guests receive one or two copies of each photo session. Not only do we use a live photographer to ensure quality shots and to shoot when the guests are ready, but our second attendant manually crops, zooms in/out, and prints out a photo for every single person in the shot. We've also fit as many as 20 people inside our booth!
What drew you to this field/how did you get started? Having an art-related background, I've always had a love of photography and film. Producing photobooth pictures and also helping guests create short seven-second videos for the flipbooks combines the two into my dream job.
What are some sources of inspiration or influences on your work? I'm inspired by paper art such as zoetropes, origami, and pop-up books/cards. I love the feel and textures of paper and all the amazing things that can be done with it.
Tell us about a favorite, unusual or most interesting moment at a wedding: One of my favorite moments was when the mother of one of my brides, who was in a larger than normal electric wheelchair, was able to fit inside my photo booth alongside her family to take photo booth pictures not once, but twice!
What makes a wedding memorable for you? What makes a wedding memorable is when the guests tell us what a great idea, product, and service we provide. But the best memories are not what we take with us, but the ones we give to our guests. After all, this is exactly why I'm in this business.
What have weddings taught you? Weddings have taught me that even though we create novelty items, it truly brings people together. It's taught me that life is all about friends and family and creating lasting memories.
What is the best advice you give to a couple when planning their wedding? Truly seek out quality versus quantity. I believe that it's all in the details and you get what you pay for. Ask LOTS of questions!
If you could have any superpower on the job, what would it be? To have the ability to move at lightning speed! Because guests love receiving their very own custom photos and flipbooks, moving at lightning speed would allow us to prevent any lines and wait time!
What are 3 words that describe your personality? Friendly, positive, fun.
What's your favorite book/movie/work of art? My all time favorite movies are The Goonies and A Christmas Story.
What's your favorite marriage advice? Don't go to bed angry with each other.
Extracurricular activities: I love cooking and grilling, watching movies with friends, and singing karaoke.
What's your favorite way to wind down after a hard day? Go home, get into my pajamas, and curl up on the couch with a nice glass of red wine.
What are some of your favorite places to eat—either everyday spots or special occasion splurges? In San Francisco, I love to have breakfast at Toast, inexpensive sushi at Kiki, and wonton soup until 3am at Sam Wo in Chinatown.
