Questions and Answers

What was the inspiration for Siri?

Beverley Siri: My inspiration to create an apparel collection came while spending a year in Milan, Italy. I was drawn to specialty hand-woven fabrics, which I used to create striking colors.

Can you tell us about the signature Siri look?

When Siri launched, it was hailed as "a fresh, new look." Ironically, my designs are a chic, classic, almost retro style drawing on the '50s and '60s. Siri dresses are often named after celebrities of the day. The "Jackie" and the "Hepburn" in particular, with a swing or a little crop jacket in silk organza, became very popular among women of all ages.

How did you transition from special occasion to become one of the most popular designer of bridesmaid dresses?

I was recognized as the first in the industry to create short bridesmaids dresses, for bridesmaids who didn't want to look like bridesmaids. I took the special occasion Hepburn and made it a strapless tea-length sheath with a bow-sash at the waist. The Tiffany Breakfast dress followed, a strapless, below the knee A-line, also with a bow-sash at the waist. The style caught on with others in the industry. Siri has become known for truly wear-again, fashionable bridesmaid dresses.

And then came bridal?

Yes. My own wedding in 1999 led to the design of understated, affordable yet gorgeous bridal gowns. These styles are perfect for destination brides, second-time brides or those who appreciate simple elegance.

What 3 things should brides know about Siri?

We're proud to do all of our manufacturing in our San Francisco factory; we offer a choice of colors and fabrics for your made-to-order look, so brides can personalize their selections; at the San Francisco boutique, you can browse every style of the Siri Collection!
