Questions and Answers

What 3 words best describe your work?

Fresh. Organic. Elegant.

Tell us about your company name.

I came up with "Petalworks" when I worked as a corporate event planner in the high tech field. I looked for a company name that blended the tech feel of Silicon Valley with florals.

Why should someone hire you?

Petalworks is a boutique floral design and event styling studio. Each client is given the utmost attention since Petalworks takes on only a limited number of special clients each year.

What are the common misconceptions about your services?

Petalworks is not a "drop the flowers off and go" type of business. We work with each couple to get all those personal touches included, and we work hard to make each event unique. We do not have a catalog of work so that you can order by number. Each event is a custom design.

What drew you to this field/how did you get started?

Coming from a family of artists, I always had an eye for color and design. I found the sweet spot by working with flowers.

What are some sources of inspiration or influences on your work?

Ariella Chezar and Matthew Robbins are two of my floral design inspirations. In addition, I take inspiration from the setting, the season, the colors, and, of course, the bride and groom.

Tell us about a favorite, unusual or very interesting moment at a wedding:

One of my favorite wedding memories happened when a guest brought a baton to the reception. The band was playing and this guest whipped out her baton and stood in the middle of the dance floor twirling away. Everyone got a kick out of it. Hey, free entertainment!

What makes a wedding memorable for you?

Love! Weddings embody my love of special events. Some of my favorite moments at weddings include giving the bride her bouquet that morning and seeing her face light up with excitement, and that moment just before the bride walks down the aisle when it's just her and her father standing there. Also watching kids' faces light up in anticipation—that's the best.

What have weddings taught you?

Weddings have taught me that love is universal. No matter what age, what culture, what budget, weddings are all about love.

What is the best advice you give a couple when planning their wedding?

The best advice I could give a bride and groom is to have the wedding THEY dream of, not outside influencers. Also, the best way to keep the budget in check is to limit the number of guests.

If you could have any superpower on the job, what would it be?

I'd want a jet pack. Zoom Zoom!

What are 3 words that describe your personality?

Passionate. Creative. Kind.

What's your favorite quote?

"It all works out in the end." —My husband, Scott Neubold

What's your favorite marriage advice?

Compromise. Love unconditionally. Be Kind.

Extracurricular activities:

Most of my free time these days is spent with my two sassy nieces, Malin and Eiley. They make great sidekicks!

If you weren't in your current profession, what would you do instead?

If I wasn't in the wedding industry, I would like to be a kindergarten teacher. I love to use crayons and play with kids.

What's your favorite way to wind down after a hard day?

Treating my team to a nice meal after a wedding.

Tell us about your pets, if you have any.

I have two amazing English Springer Spaniels: Presley and Sully. We are all owned by a black cat named Percy, AKA Mr. Buttons, AKA Ninja Cat.
