Services

With an easygoing and unobtrusive style, Martin Meyer takes the approach of a documentary filmmaker when capturing weddings. The resulting films are artistic and personal narratives of your wedding day, all with an undeniably cinematic look. Described by fellow event professionals as an “expert videographer and editor,” Martin uses only the best HD cameras and is always up-to-date with the latest technology.

Yet his process starts well before the actual wedding day! Martin will meet with you before the wedding to discuss your vision for the film and to guide you with his expert suggestions, honed from his extensive experience in film and fine arts.

Think of your wedding film as an investment—something that becomes a precious heirloom over time. martinFILMS offers custom-made wedding films tailored to your needs and budget, starting at $2300.

Questions and Answers

What 3 words describe your work? Engaging, fresh and fun.

Why should someone hire you? One of the best investments that you can make is to have a film produced about your wedding day. It will become a precious and priceless heirloom for your family and friends. Bringing years of experience together with artistic vision, martinFILMS will always do its utmost to create this special film for you.

What are the common misconceptions about your services? Editing—creating a narrative—is often not given the consideration it's due. It's a crucial part of the process. While all of the footage of the wedding will be great, it's important to end up with a film that is engaging and exciting to watch and share with family and friends.

What drew you to this field/how did you get started? I founded martinFILMS in New York City after receiving an MFA from the Art Academy in Braunschweig, Germany, where I grew up. With a strong background in the arts and photography, producing wedding films came naturally to me. What could a filmmaker be more excited about than a wedding with all its beauty, romance and drama?

Tell us about a favorite, unusual or most interesting moment at a wedding: I would have to say just about any moment of my own wedding. Marrying Claire was certainly the best thing I ever did. And the Cajun band and Gewurtztraminer weren't bad either.

What makes a wedding memorable for you? After attending weddings too numerous to count, there are still always times when I choke up. Each wedding has its memorable moments and I've always got my eye watching for them. I see it as a privilege and not work to provide wedding films for couples, their families and friends.

What is the best advice you give to a couple when planning their wedding? Hands down, the most important thing is to remember that you are getting married because you love one another. Do not forget this for a moment. Enjoy your day. That being said, we all have a budget—so figure out what is most important to you. Think about what you want to hold as keepsakes after the wedding day is over—you might want to splurge a bit when it comes to photography and video. The professionals represented by this guide will take great care of you.

If you could have any superpower on the job, what would it be? Another set of arms, 360-degree vision, and the power to wish that every couple I work with live long and happy lives together.

What are 3 words that describe your personality? Alert, creative and caring.
