Why We Like This Place

The newest property along Fisherman’s Wharf—the chic and upscale Argonaut Hotel—handily dispels the myth that the wharf is a destination for tourists only. Although it shares its waterfront location with restaurants and shops, the Argonaut remains in a class by itself. 

The Argonaut occupies a historic brick building that was once a Del Monte fruit cannery, and thanks to the renowned Kimpton Design Group, the impressive structure has been reborn as a boutique-style hotel of the highest order. One of the most pleasing aspects of this transformation is the décor: The designers have taken their inspiration from the water and boats right outside, seamlessly linking the interior to the bay and its history. Shades of deep blue and white, lights shaped like portals, ships’ wheels, and tasteful nods to maritime life show up throughout the hotel.

From its vantage point at the far west edge of Fisherman’s Wharf, the Argonaut stands sentinel over a sweeping, nearly panoramic bay view. If you love all things nautical, or you’re simply looking for a luxurious hotel in one of San Francisco’s most historic areas, the Argonaut may be just the place to celebrate.
