Pasadena Wedding Venue
99 South Raymond Avenue
Pasadena, California 91105
The ornate rooftops of this inviting Pasadena landmark soar high above Old Pasadena, advertising Castle Green as a unique place to hold a special event. Once a posh hotel, this grand 1898 building is designed in an unusual style called Moorish Colonial, an arresting mixture of European and Middle Eastern architectural elements. Several towers capped with red domes and wrought-iron balconies lend the castle its handsome and distinctive silhouette. Also of visual interest is a whimsical bridge that extends from the main façade and connects the two wings of the historic building.
If you get married here, your ceremony can be held in the Ballroom or in the surrounding garden, which is landscaped with tall, graceful palms and a tranquil fountain that trickles into a lily pool, evoking a feel of Old World romance.
Recently restored, the castle’s interior displays a wealth of late Victorian splendor. A pair of massive oak doors invites guests into a lofty lobby with a sweeping marble staircase and crystal chandelier. To the left you’ll find a cluster of impressive “sitting” rooms, including the spacious Main Salon and the circular Moorish Room. These now possess their original, turn-of-the-century colors of deep rose, soft green and ochre. The original antique furnishings, warm wood mouldings, and extraordinary fireplaces complete the lovely and singular décor.
A grand hallway takes you to the Ballroom, where silent movie stars Rudolph Valentino and Lilian Gish once danced the night away by the light of the moon, streaming in through a wall of arched windows. The room is in shades of cream, with a high ceiling, pale stone-tiled floors and majestic alabaster pillars—all providing an elegant and sophisticated backdrop. Further enhancing the entire main floor is lavish carpeting that replicates the beautiful colors and patterns of the 1898 original. Just imagine holding your reception in this magnificant space, or strolling its broad verandas and park-like grounds!
Weddings here enjoy exclusive access to this one-of-a-kind privately owned estate. However, Castle Green is also an intriguing venue for any type of event: corporate gala, fundraiser, family reunion, or retirement party. This historic treasure will captivate you with an abundance of visual delights, so arrange for a tour and see why it’s one of Pasadena’s favorite places to celebrate.
