Long Beach Wedding Venue
100 Aquarium Way
Long Beach, California 90802
You’re exchanging vows in a place like no Other: Behind you slivers of light filter down through three stories of liquid turquoise, illuminating tall flowing sea plants and the iridescent sea creatures that are your audience. As your senses take in the enveloping hush and the gentle sway of the blue water, you feel at once serene and enlivened.
Such is the magical effect of the brilliant Blue Cavern, the ceremony site of choice at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. Receptions are held in this area as well, but there are a variety of other options. One favorite is the intimate Rooftop Veranda, where gorgeous sunsets are a regular occurrence. Sheltered on three sides and half-shaded by a canvas cover, it boasts a 180-degree view of the water that encompasses Rainbow Harbor, the lighthouse, and even the Queen Mary. It’s perfect for rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, and cocktail receptions. Smaller gatherings also take place in Café Scuba, which opens onto a terrace overlooking the docks.
Larger events unfold in The Great Hall, an exciting space featuring multiple skylights and a life-size suspended blue whale that presides majestically over the festivities. The hall is equipped with an 8-screen projection system and state-of-the-art sound and video. Automated screens, which cover the skylights at the touch of a button, enable you to project your own slideshow or videos—as well as the Aquarium’s award-winning short films—around the room for all to see.
The space can be “designed” to create whatever mood suits you, from low-key to theatrical. For something fun, go with a more fanciful theme, like silhouettes of hammerhead sharks and penguins swimming by amidst blue and green swirling lights.
Depending on the arrangements you’ve made with the museum, guests can wander among aquarium exhibits and marvel at the wonders of the deep. Many remarkable habitats and ecosystems are represented here in engaging watery displays. Amber forests of giant swaying kelp beds, multihued tropical coral reefs, and translucent floating sea life grab your attention and ignite the imagination. Watch playful otters, sea lions and harbor seals … delight in the penguins that meet and mate for life. One is instantly immersed in the enchantment of the sea and its fascinating inhabitants.
Located adjacent to Rainbow Harbor in downtown Long Beach, the Aquarium is truly a one-of-a-kind event location with incredible marine views and spectacular exhibits. For ocean lovers or those just looking for a truly singular environment for their celebration, this is a magnificent place. Its sights and sounds will transport you and your guests to an underwater fantasy come to life.
