Why We Like This Place

It’s hard to believe, as you drive through the suburban sprawl that makes up most of Contra Costa County, that a rustic jewel like Wildwood Acres could exist here. Nestled in a wooded canyon only five miles from downtown Lafayette, it’s suitable for a wide variety of events. Whether you’re planning a country-style reception, family reunion, or frothy Victorian wedding with picture hats and parasols, Wildwood Acres can magically transform itself into the ideal venue.

The indoor facility is a 2,000- square-foot lodge with warm decorative flooring and a 45′ garden mural. Open-beamed ceilings, Oriental rugs, and a stone fireplace with benches on either side make the room cozy. And, there’s even a full-service bar. This would be an especially nice area for a Christmas party, an intimate wedding or other winter event.

The outdoor facilities, however, are what make Wildwood Acres so special. If you’re getting married here there’s a lovely ceremony site up on a hill in a fern grotto, deep in a grove of towering bay trees and bigleaf maples. Exchange vows on a stone platform in one corner while your guests, seated in the adjacent open area, savor their surroundings. Afterwards, have your reception on two terraces, shaded by a natural canopy of alder and maple trees. A redwood gazebo houses the band, and there’s plenty of room to kick up your heels on the sunken dance floor. All around, pottery urns overflowing with impatiens and ferns add spots of color, and winding paths lead to shady nooks containing wrought-iron or wooden benches.

CEREMONY, EVENT/RECEPTION & MEETING CAPACITY: The Lodge holds 150 seated or 250 standing guests; the Outdoor Area holds up to 300 guests seated or standing.

Fees & Deposits

The site rental fee ranges $800–3,000 with catering. To reserve your date, a nonrefundable $1,000 booking fee is required. For weddings, ceremony and reception charges include the rental fee and ceremony setup fee, plus in-house catering, starting at $57/person, with champagne, beer, wine and soft drinks.

Midweek business functions start at $42/person, including breakfast, lunch and nonalcoholic beverages. For all events, a 15% tax/service charge is additional.
