Why We Like This Place

With the recent debut of The Belamar Hotel, Manhattan Beach looks hipper than ever. The moment you step into this stylish boutique hotel’s lobby, you know you’ve entered an oasis of chill.

Creamy travertine floors and walls give a sophisticated base to the funky décor: a sitting area features low-slung mid-century-modern furniture, lit-from-within plexiglass cube end tables, capiz shell curtains, lots of chrome and brushed metal, and a fluffy flokati rug. Pacific tones of soft aqua, dark chocolate and peridot help create a look that manages to be mod and swank at the same time.

The flagstone-paved Garden at the center of the hotel makes it a very attractive ceremony location. Bubbles? Rose petals? Candles? Yes, you can do any or all of them at The Belamar. A ledger-stone waterfall fountain flanked by flowers and twisty topiary creates the backdrop for your wedding, held under a large white pergola entwined with star jasmine. Later, your entertainment can set up on a small built-in flagstone stage on the opposite side of the Garden. Cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres are enjoyed here, where artifacts from the hotel’s almost-impossible-to-imagine previous life as an antique English-style hotel remain.

Receptions are held in the ballroom, adjacent to the Garden. The tent-like peaked canvas ceiling and open framework give this room a slight edginess. Simple dove-gray curtains echo the hotel’s clean, soft color palette. In the typical Belamar manner, the custom-designed banquet chairs are not only hip—they’re actually comfy, too.

The same can be said of the New American cuisine served at The Belamar: it’s comfort food with flair. Customized menus, generous servings, and artistic presentation ensure that your reception will satisfy everyone’s taste buds. Another nice thing about having a wedding here is the exclusivity: yours will be the only one taking place that day, and you’ll have the undivided attention of the thoughtful staff.

Guestrooms combine whimsical touches—like retro metal phones—with high thread-count luxury linens and thick robes. Even the hallways are adorned in The Belamar style: they’re lined with enormous, offbeat photo portraits of 1950s doll heads. Oh yes, did we mention that the hotel is an easy ten minutes from LAX? But don’t worry—no one will confuse the serene, secluded and retro-modern Belamar with an airport hotel. It’s in a class of its own.

Fees & Deposits

For weddings, 25% of the estimated event total is a nonrefundable deposit due on contract signing. 50% of the balance is due 6 months prior to the event; final payment is due with the guaranteed guest count 7 business days prior. Ceremony fee is $1,500. Wedding packages are available starting at $75/person with a 75 guest minimum; weekend food and beverage minimums apply. Alcohol, tax and a 20% service charge are additional. Wedding night accommodations for the bride and groom are included.

For business functions, room rental fees range $400–1,500 depending on the space(s) selected. Business breakfasts and luncheons can be arranged, as well as meeting breaks.
