Tennessee Gardens

Description

Tennessee Gardens is yet another of the hidden oases that dot the Inland Empire. Just 200 feet from the hustle and bustle of one of Redlands’ main thoroughfares, it’s a white picket-fence-enclosed pocket of lawns, shade trees, flowers and fountains. What once upon a time was a 1.5-acre poultry farm is now a sublime green sanctuary.

The gardens here, planted so that flowers bloom year-round, often inspire even professional landscapers to ask, “Who does your designing?” Trees include shady peppers, willowy birches and flamboyant jacarandas. Victorian-style lampposts, and white picket and wrought-iron fences run along the periphery. In summer, the cool evenings are the most popular ceremony time. That’s when lights strung on the trees and fences come to life, charming everybody with a cheerful glow.

Tennessee Gardens’ heart is the great lawn next to the ceremony site. A reed- and birch- decorated waterfall adorns one corner, and loveseats beckon in another. Where the garden meets the colonnade beside the indoor reception room, an earthen-colored Mediterranean-style fountain gently splashes. It’s one of several water features, including ponds, spotted about the property.

The highlight of the ceremony area is the Victorian gazebo, whose generously wide front provides a great open view for guests and photographers. Two long white tents over grass, with a paved aisle between them, extend back from the gazebo. The whole space is enclosed by a white lattice fence, and brides enter it through a rose-swathed arbor. Tennessee Gardens is happy to let you embellish the tents and gazebo any way you like.

The indoor facilities are superb, as well. The bride’s room, located behind the garden, is a cottage-like affair with huge floor-to-ceiling mirrors, a bathroom and a generous 15-person capacity. The Reception Hall, which runs along one side of the garden, has a large parquet dance floor, a portable corner bar, frosted glass sconces, a DJ space and gold decorative accents set against a bright white finish. French doors lead outside to a patio that features its own dance floor. Another nice touch: a portico at the hall’s north end provides a convenient drop-off point for guests arriving in cars.

Tennessee Gardens also offers soup-to-nuts services: florist, photographer, an award-winning bakery, caterer, linens and entertainment—even harpists! Its checklist allows you to build a wedding package item by item, with every cost clearly spelled out.

Gardens are symbols of perpetual spring and eternal renewal. There are few better places than this in which to start a new life together.
