Why We Like This Place

With an oceanfront address as stylish as its chic, unpretentious décor, Shutters outclasses most of the nearby hotel competition. Its crisp gray and white exterior, enlivened with flower-covered trellises and balconies, brings to mind an upscale version of the classic clapboard beach cottage. Inside, the attractive lobby gives guests their first experience of Shutters’ snappy appeal. Original artwork, comfy sofas, and a stenciled ceiling contribute to an atmosphere that’s both sophisticated and relaxed. A few steps from the lobby you’ll find the pool, and one of the nicest outdoor terraces we’ve seen anywhere. Sunny, but sheltered, this spacious stone tiled deck commands a panoramic view of the ocean. Ceremonies are held here at day’s end, just as the sun is setting and the sky is awash in color.

For receptions Shutters offers function rooms of various sizes, all practical and attractively decorated in pale pastels with unique handcrafted light fixtures. The Grand Salon is the largest and most luxurious of the rooms, creating a refined ambiance for special celebrations. A floor-to-ceiling marble mantel holds a handsome fireplace, flanked by alternating panels of antiqued beveled mirrors and French moiré satin. The Grand Salon also boasts five spectacular Venetian chandeliers made of hand-blown glass in the shape of leaves.

The more intimate Promenade Room divides into three spaces, each of which opens onto an outdoor terrace. Another “room with a view” is the Beachside Room. Adjacent to Shutters’ popular Coast Café & Bar, Beachside features hardwood flooring and wood millwork throughout, giving the space a warm and cozy feel with a spectacular view of the sea and sand. Rehearsal dinners, bridal and baby showers taking place in this room are unique and refreshing.

Another Shutters attraction is the resort-like accommodations. Rooms have sliding shuttered doors that open to a balmy Pacific breeze, and suites also include a fireplace lined with handmade tiles, and wood floors adorned with thick rugs. Marble baths with windows to the outside, and a host of thoughtful amenities make you feel like you’re a guest in someone’s exclusive beach house.

At the romantic Shutters, you can stage your entire wedding—from rehearsal dinner to honeymoon—right on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

CEREMONY CAPACITY: The Oceanview Pacific Terrace seats 200 for a ceremony; the Promenade Room and Terrace accommodate 110 seated or 150 standing.
EVENT/RECEPTION CAPACITY: The Grand Salon accommodates 250 seated (with dance floor) or 350 standing; the Pacific Terrace, 200 seated or 300 standing; the Promenade Room holds 140 seated or 150 standing. Beachside holds 90 seated or 150 standing guests.
MEETING CAPACITY: Several spaces hold 20–375 seated guests.

Fees & Deposits

For weddings, a $7,000 deposit is required to reserve your date; 50% of the estimated event total is due 30 days prior to the event and the final balance is due 10 working days prior. The ceremony setup fee is $2,500 for the Pacific Terrace. Luncheons range $110–140/person, and dinners range $180–250/person, including a 4-course meal, cake, alcohol, tax and a 20% service charge.

Room rental fees for business functions or meetings vary depending on room and/or services selected, and may be waived with food and beverage minimums or overnight accommodation minimums. Shutters has both a conference coordinator and a business center plus in-house audiovisual services.
