Why We Like This Place
The City of Walnut Creek gave the Shadelands Art Center an extensive remodel, and it has reopened better than ever. It was always a spacious and comfortable hall, but now every aspect of the facility has been improved.
The building’s design and décor are easy to work with: The white interior is amenable to virtually any kind of decorating, and the open-beamed ceiling gives the space a lofty feeling. An adjustable colored lighting system enables you to create whatever ambiance you like. Add to this a gleaming hardwood floor, a patio, a bride’s room, a remodeled kitchen and bathrooms and excellent acoustics and you have an event site that will doubtless become even more popular than before.
Shadelands is particularly in demand for large weddings, where the entire event can be held in the main hall. A portable stage is available for the head table, which is visible from everywhere in the room. The hall opens onto an expansive patio which can be used for a ceremony, cocktail party or additional reception seating.
For corporate functions, Shadelands supplies or can arrange for most of the equipment needed for presentations: an overhead projector, LCD projector, large projection screen, slide projectors, sound and lighting equipment—and a complimentary phone hookup for internet use.
The Center’s staff are also very accommodating, and go out of their way to help you create the event you want, while staying within your budget. One of the terrific perks they offer is the use of the fully equipped professional kitchen, with the option of bringing in your own caterer. If you like, you can even head into the kitchen yourself, and whip up a spectacular feast for anywhere from 30 to 300 guests. This is a real benefit for couples planning a casual wedding or rehearsal dinner.
Shadelands Art Center’s décor, flexibility, ample parking and reasonable prices have made it a local favorite. Its convenient location is also appreciated by folks whose guests are coming from all over the Bay Area. If you want to host a wedding, private party or corporate event that’s very much your own, this is definitely a location to consider.

Fees & Deposits
A $300 nonrefundable deposit is required to secure your date. The event balance is due 90 days prior to the function. An additional $60 fee is charged if alcohol is served. Rental fees include tables, chairs, microphone, use of the kitchen and attendant, and range $60–150/hour depending on the time frame of the event.
Availability
Year-round, daily until 1am. Later time frames can be negotiated.
