Description
While the Pedrizzetti Winery isn’t exactly hidden away, it’s comfortably ensconced at the end of a quiet country road. From its stately Italian-Mediterranean architecture to its cheerful Event Patio, this charming winery exhibits an elegance you’d be hard-pressed to find anywhere else in the area. The original winery, which had been an important part of the Morgan Hill community since 1913, burned down in 1996, but the Pedrizzetti family replaced it with this stunning new facility, custom-made for anyone seeking a romantic spot for a wedding, reception or other festive celebration.
Weddings and parties take place on the sunny Event Patio. Here, a border of mature fir trees and blooming shrubs ensures privacy and gives the space an intimate feel. In the center of the patio, a large wooden shadecloth-covered pavilion, painted a refreshing shade of white and appropriately entwined with grapevines, is as pretty as it is versatile.
For wedding ceremonies, your guests are seated here, affording them a close-up view of you as you float down the aisle towards a flower-bedecked wedding arch. After exchanging vows, have your pictures taken against a beautiful backdrop of a velvety green lawn, fragrant jasmine vines, an olive tree and colorful flowerbeds. While your photographer is capturing you on film, your guests can relax and mingle in La Fenice Tasting Room, and browse in the Gift Gallery amid a host of wine-related items such as hand-painted wine glasses, fine linens, tapestries, wrought-iron wine racks and handmade candles. With its splendid Italian-Mediterranean decor featuring mellow gold and terra cotta walls, tiled floors, a peaked, beamed ceiling hung with Tiffany-style ceiling fans, and redwood tasting and "party" bars, the Tasting Room and Gift Gallery compares favorably with anything found in the Napa or Sonoma valleys. Then it’s over to the new Black and White Ballroom, where tables and chairs have been set up for dining, dancing and celebrating.
Pedrizzetti Winery’s event coordinator and project manager likes to describe their facility as being "family style, but with a touch of elegance," and we heartily agree with this description. The winery abounds with exquisite artistic details such as the hand-painted grape-cluster friezes and finials that decorate the winery’s exterior, the elaborately carved handcrafted back-bar, and handsome tapestries depicting scenes of the Italian countryside. Even the bride’s dressing room, decorated with gauzy curtains, tulle and artificial grapevines, shows the same attention to detail you’ll find throughout the facility.
But Pedrizzetti Winery has more going for it than good looks. They have a very flexible policy concerning vendors, they can do custom bridal bottlings of their vintage wines, they have a large outdoor barbecue area, and the entire property is handicapped-accessible. And although you’d never know it from Pedrizzetti’s peaceful country surroundings, Highway 101 is just minutes away. Watch out, Napa & Sonoma—you’ve got competition!
