Why We Like This Place

The lovely drive to Peacock Gap Country Club hasn’t changed. You still enjoy a relaxing ride along San Pablo Bay, past islands and bridges, tidal flats and woodlands. But as of summer 2009, what you see at the end of the road will be something completely different: a brand new, redesigned and modernized Peacock Gap Country Club & Spa.

You now enter through an impressive wood and stone porte-cochère, a fitting introduction to the club’s modern interior with its plush furnishings and attractive décor. Invite guests to sip champagne in the foyer, outfitted with couches and a fireplace, as well as out on the adjoining Reception Terrace, a small patio that can be set up with cocktail tables.

The very spacious banquet room and bar is light and airy, thanks to a 30-foot ceiling and three walls of glass. During the day, natural light floods the space and in the evening you can create whatever mood you like with adjustable lighting. The room is easily divided into smaller sections, but whether you use all or part of it you always have a glorious view overlooking the rolling hills of Peacock Valley, the golf course and Mount Tamalpais. The banquet room also opens out to a broad terrace that’s perfect for additional al fresco seating, or simply appreciating the fresh air and sunshine or starry night sky.

Getting married here is a pleasure on the new manicured Event Lawn. This vast, oval green expanse can accommodate a large ceremony, which unfolds against a backdrop of the valley and Mt. Tam. All you need to add is perhaps the club’s portable gazebo and some flowers. A second site for tying the knot is the 2,000-square-foot Sun Terrace, which looks out onto the golf course, a driving range, the surrounding hills and Mt. Tamalpais. An arch in one corner frames Mt. Tam and shades the couple as they exchange vows.

The new European-style Spa is available to the bridal party, giving the bride and her entourage an opportunity to get ready in style. The Spa salon has a staff of professionals whose services include hair, massage and a selection of skin and body treatments. Separate dressing rooms for the bride (with plenty of closet space and mirrors) and groom are also provided.

Events are catered by Peacock Gap’s executive chef and talented staff. A wide variety of food selections and menus is available, but the most requested choice is the Signature Buffet, a bountiful presentation that includes tender meats, poultry, pastas and vegetarian dishes. Food and beverage packages are very reasonable, with no surprises or cake-cutting fees.

Because the country club’s neighbors are at a distance, parties receive a six-hour reservation, with very few restrictions, and Peacock Gap ensures that no golfers will enter the areas reserved for an event. The banquet staff, who have an extensive background in coordinating events, can help with all aspects of a wedding, including invitations, entertainment, party favors, flowers, design ideas, and officiants of all faiths.

Long the centerpiece of this upscale neighborhood, Peacock Gap Country Club & Spa remains a favorite among locals for weddings and special events. And once word gets out about its new facilities and services, the club is sure to attract couples and party planners from all over the Bay Area.

CEREMONY CAPACITY: The Event Lawn holds 250–300 seated guests and the Sun Terrace seats 450.

EVENT/RECEPTION CAPACITY: The Event Reception Area holds 450 seated or 600 standing guests. Indoor and outdoor spaces are available.

MEETING CAPACITY: 5 meeting rooms accommodate 20–500 seated guests.

Fees & Deposits

A $1,750 deposit is required to reserve your date, 50% of the estimated event total is due 60 days prior to the event; the event balance is due 10 days before the event. Room rental fees range $200–2,000 depending on space and time rented. Meals range $29–50/person. Bar packages are available at $18–25/person; tax and a 20% service charge are additional. An outdoor ceremony site is available.
