Description

Patrick David Schoolcraft, celebrated chef, restaurateur and driving force behind Patrick David's Fine Catering, has long been the darling of discerning foodies. In 1996 he and wife and business partner, Laura Schoolcraft, launched the hugely successful Patrick David's Restaurant & Bar in Danville, an establishment that has garnered numerous awards, including "Best New Restaurant in the East Bay" from the readers of Diablo Magazine. Now the couple has embarked on yet another creative collaboration: Patrick David's Event Center in San Ramon, which opened in February 2008 to major applause.

Like their popular restaurant and bar, Patrick David's Event Center is conveniently located in an upscale East Bay neighborhood. The property's tree-framed courtyard area on the verdant banks of a lovely creek welcomes guests and provides a beautiful setting for ceremonies or outdoor entertaining.

The lobby/foyer entrance on the ground floor has an exciting theater feel. A large mirror and dramatic silk-wrapped chandelier lend the space glamour, as does a magnificent grand staircase that swirls up to the rooms above. On the first floor you'll find the David Ann Ballroom, a long salon spacious enough for ceremonies, receptions, fundraising extravaganzas and other fabulous fêtes. Acoustics are stellar here; performers like music legend Etta James have already filled the hall with their magic. Imagine a jazz orchestra, a sensational soloist or a lively quartet tempting your guests to their feet. The mezzanine overlooking the ballroom is often used for more dining, lounging or mingling, with a full view of the activities below.

To take your party to another level, ride the elevator or ascend the grand staircase to the spaces upstairs (posing for a show-stopping photo en route, of course). In addition to the mezzanine, there's a second graceful foyer where guests can gather for cocktails and passed hors d'oeuvres, and two beautifully appointed rooms for more intimate entertaining. The Tuscan Room with its rich color palette is a charming option for any social or corporate event. The smaller Provence Room works well for a rehearsal dinner or private dinner party. A beautiful cork floor, splashes of sun-drenched Mediterranean color and displays of the fine wine selections that have won this restaurateur numerous Wine Spectator awards create a luxurious backdrop.

Of course, everything from Patrick David is dazzling and divine: The tableware is exquisite and so is the food. We'd call it fine art, from Sizzling Sea Scallops and Boneless Braised Short Ribs to delicious Seasonal Flan (corn, carrot or sweet pea) and Berries and Vanilla Bean Crème in Mini Martini Glasses. Whether you're hosting a rehearsal dinner for discerning family members, a thank-you soirée for top clients or contributors, or a gathering of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, your event is certain to impress. CEREMONY CAPACITY: The Center holds 275 seated guests indoors and 150 seated outdoors.

EVENT/RECEPTION CAPACITY: The Center accommodates 440 seated or 600 standing indoors and 50 seated or 300 standing outdoors.

MEETING CAPACITY: Meeting spaces hold up to 225 seated guests.

Fees & Deposits

50% of the estimated event total is required to reserve your date. The balance is due 30 days prior to the event. Rental fees range $1,000–4,500 depending on the day and time of the event and the space rented. Meals range $60–120/person. Tax, alcohol and a 20% service charge are additional.
