Olympic Collection Banquet and Conference Center

Description

Since 1991, The Olympic Collection has specialized in custom celebrations in L.A.‘s bustling Westside district. With features and services you’d find in a five-star hotel (but here much more affordable), it can host anything from a small group to a cast of hundreds, will cater whatever cuisine you desire, including kosher, and offers indoor and outdoor settings. We get the impression that anything’s possible here. How does this place offer so much flexibility? It was specifically designed as a state-of-the-art events facility, with topnotch audio-video equipment and satellite hookups for global soirées. And, it’s become a celebrity of sorts, too—the Olympic Collection has starred in movies (Hot Shots, Part Deux, and American Beauty) and TV shows (L.A. Law, Murder She Wrote, Columbo, and Lois and Clark). Weddings, star-studded fundraisers, theme parties and the like are the only business at this facility, so they really know how to throw a party.

The yellow multilevel complex has two gated entryways, tall palm trees and green lattice trellises that partially obscure the balconies on the second and third floors. The cafes, restaurants and shops occupying the facility’s ground and second floors confirm this place is an upscale entertainment center.

Inside, you’ll find a spectacular show of imported marble, opulent Venetian crystal chandeliers, hand-painted frescoes, detailed millwork and gorgeous displays of fresh flowers. There are eight banquet and conference rooms on three floors, including the spacious and posh Grand, Regency, Versailles, Century and Imperial Ballrooms, tastefully decorated with upholstered walls, custom carpeting and beveled-mirror columns. Of special note is the new Garden Terrace, adjacent to the Regency Ballroom. It’s a large, open-air balcony that’s popular for hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and ceremonies. Tables with bright green umbrellas, oversized pots planted with trees and colorful annuals and a wall with a small fountain are features that combine to create an inviting space for parties during the day, and a star-filled spot for evening events.

Ballrooms on the second floor offer a variety of options, especially when you consider that each has access to a large balcony, a welcome addition on balmy nights. The Atrium, for instance, has a bright airy feel to it—windows open out onto a terrace dotted with planters full of flowers in bloom. This space makes a great private dining room for smaller affairs, or rehearsal dinners if you’re having a large reception in one of the ballrooms.

Not the least of the Collection’s attributes is a staff of seasoned party professionals and culinary wizards who can transform your wedding into an Academy Award winner. After all, it’s their business.
