Why We Like This Place

The popular adage, “Do what you love, love what you do” must have been on the minds of Tony and Jo Maravilla when they turned their passion for gardening into a cottage business in front of their home. Just four miles from the freeway, yet seemingly remote, their nursery and garden-themed gift shop (housed in a lofty pole barn) is a charming place to while away the time. Among the attractions are a long arbor wrapped in white-blossoming vines; a colorful array of stained-glass wind chimes; and a bench that invites a quiet respite beneath a giant Brazilian pepper tree.

But the Maravillas didn’t stop there—they recently developed their unused acreage specifically with weddings in mind. The result is a serene and thoughtfully designed outdoor venue that’s fresh, lush and offers enchanting country views. As guests follow a path around the nursery, the scenery quickly moves from quaint to dramatic. The newly landscaped areas are poised along a gentle bluff overlooking the pastoral Santa Rosa Valley. Partitioned with green hedgerows and stone-seat walls, these elegant outdoor rooms include thoughtful, event-friendly touches as well as breathtaking vistas.

At the entrance to “the foyer,” called Fountain Green, new arrivals are greeted by a pair of doves cooing from an aviary nestled in foliage. The Green features a burbling fountain and a miniature putting green—complete with golf clubs and balls to serve as a pre-ceremony ice-breaker! Meanwhile, ushers leisurely escort guests “next door” to Dove Courtyard to await the start of the ceremony. This spacious grassy plaza is defined by trim shrubbery on one side and fragrant roses on the other. The main focus, however, is an elevated demi-lune stage in creamy stone that curves outwards toward the bluff’s edge. At the center stands an iron scrollwork archway, abloom with your florist’s enhancements. You and your groom will make a romantic tableau as you pledge your love in front of a spectacular mountain panorama, a symbolic and majestic embodiment of timelessness and strength.

While your bridal party retreats to the nursery for fabulous photo-ops (won’t you look pretty beneath a gazebo laced with vanilla-scented trumpet vines), your guests stroll to Woodland, a shady dell encircled by pine and fir trees. Partaking of refreshments, they’ll enjoy the sights and sounds of nature—butterflies waltzing from flower to flower, the chirping of birds, and the rustling of wind in the trees.

Next, you and your new husband lead the way to the reception on Mountainview Terrace, a sweeping lawn that looks so soft and feathery, you’ll be tempted to kick off your high heels and walk barefoot in it! In the middle, a gorgeous built-in dance floor of terracotta-hued textured concrete is bordered by a fancy grapevine motif—a lovely framework for your first dance. In the summer the edge of the Terrace looks out over golden fields of corn, whose silky stalk heads waving in the breeze recall the sun-kissed countryside of a Van Gogh painting. As dusk turns to sunset, the mountainscape seems close enough to touch and the evening sky becomes a dazzling star-studded quilt.

It takes but a brief visit for you to discover that Maravilla Gardens are marvelous indeed!

Fees & Deposits

A $3,000 deposit is required to reserve your date. The balance is due 60 days prior to the event. Rental fees start at $3,500 plus $5/guest for Saturday events. Flexible wedding packages start at $52/person. Tax and a 15% service charge are additional.
