Step inside the wildly popular Maggiano’s Little Italy, located at the Westfield Promenade, and you feel like you’ve just flown back to New York, or more aptly, Chicago where the first Maggiano’s opened nearly two decades ago. Actually, this growing restaurant group is patterned on the boisterous, welcoming restaurants that thrived in the Little Italy sections of major cities all over the country in the mid-century. Good food, good times and huge portions kept those treasured neighborhood trattorias busy, and the same formula makes this modern-day incarnation just as successful.You begin your trip back to the old neighborhood as soon as you walk through the “sidewalk caf—” with its red-checkered tablecloths. The bar area inside is all dark gleaming wood with curved black leather banquettes and overhead ceiling fans. Framed blow-ups of old black & white family photos give the large open space a homey atmosphere, as well as summoning memories of an earlier time. Adding to the fun, the music is a nostalgically hip mix of well-known Italian songs and Rat Pack standards. But it’s those fabulous black & white mosaic tile floors (often called “subway tiles”) that really bring you back. You can almost imagine Mama coming out from the kitchen to tell you what she’s cooking tonight.
The Southern Italian menu has been carefully assembled from the best-remembered favorites of each U.S. region’s Little Italy, with portions that also hark back to the days before a size 8 was considered a Large. In fact, one of the delights of Maggiano’s is the “family style” service, where platters are replenished as soon as they’re emptied.
For your wedding reception or rehearsal dinner, however, that’s never a problem, because the upscale private dining areas are a world unto themselves. The Francesca Room, the Lombardo Room and the Bellagio Room offer the same great food in beautifully appointed surroundings reserved exclusively for you and your guests. Each room has its own charms, but all three—which boast elegant napery, dark wood wainscoting and cascading candelabra chandeliers—can be seamlessly combined for larger parties.
The Francesca features a unique wall-to-wall wine cellar; the Bellagio spotlights a white marble-topped bar below an impressive wood-framed mirror; and the Lombardo is notable for its handsomely carved bar. When all three rooms are opened onto each other, the graceful, faux-finish columns and rich floral area rugs draw your eye through the entire space. The banquet staff will happily roll up those rugs to create a dance floor (you can pipe in the same music that plays in the restaurant or bring in your own DJ or band), and they can even move in sofas and chairs to create a clubby lounge at one end of the room.
Whichever configuration you choose, you cannot beat the value. In addition to a bounteous feast, they even offer packages that include your wedding cake. So gather your friends and family, enjoy…and mangia!

Fees & Deposits
50% of the food and beverage minimum and a signed contract are required to reserve your date. The remaining balance is due on the day of the event. Food and beverage minimums vary depending on the date and time of the event and the space selected. The Family-style Menu starts at $18.95/person for lunch and $36.95/person for dinner. Packages that include your wedding cake are also available. Tax, alcohol and service charge are additional.
Availability
Year-round, daily, 7am–11pm on weeknights or 7am–midnight on weekends. During November and December, events are booked in specific time blocks. Call for details.
