Can’t decide between a reception at a secluded country club or an oceanview location? Have the best of both worlds at the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club in Solana Beach, just north of San Diego. Perched on a hill a few miles from the dazzling blue Pacific, the club’s landscaped grounds are an open-air delight, while the indoor spaces capture the cozy appeal of a ranch retreat.
On the day of a wedding, the public areas of the club are given over entirely to your event. Heavy oak doors open to the lobby, where the exposed light pine beams of the vaulted ceilings, together with comfortable furnishings and soft lighting, welcome guests to a casual, homey atmosphere. The Lobby’s desk, hutch and sideboard can be dressed up with flowers, candles and framed photos of the couple; this is also a nice place to have the guest book.
Ceremonies are typically held outdoors to take advantage of the stunning ocean vista and almost year-round gorgeous weather. The club’s event coordinators transform a chipping green into a wedding garden, with a low mound providing a natural stage on which the bridal couple says their vows. The verdant, tree-dotted surroundings and watery horizon create a peaceful and scenic environment for tying the knot.
After the ceremony the wedding party has its photos taken in any number of idyllic locations—a tranquil pond or cluster of cypress trees, for example. Meanwhile, guests head up to the Club Dining Room, which overlooks the manicured golf course. Certainly one of the best features of the room is its spacious veranda, partly enclosed by windows so that the captivating scenery can be enjoyed throughout the evening and in all seasons.
The Club Dining Room has indoor charms as well. A warm color scheme plus a fireplace whose mantel is adorned with flowers and candles, give the spacious room an intimate ambiance. Stylish upholstered chairs are made of glossy cherry-finished wood, particularly well-suited for fall weddings; add light-hued chair covers and table linens, however, and the event takes on a crisp, summery palette. The room’s décor and architectural details, paired with that lovely panorama through the wall of windows, provide enough visual satisfaction that the simple flower-and-votive centerpieces included in all of the club’s wedding packages are plenty of table decoration. A dance floor placed in the center of the room is visible from every spot—including the veranda—so guests are sure to feel like part of the festivities no matter where they’re seated.
Three wedding packages and a tempting selection of hors d’oeuvres and entrées ensure that couples can customize the celebration to their taste and budget. The club also offers a resort-like amenity: a full-service spa, where the bridal party can partake of a soothing massage or invigorating body treatment before the big event. Fees & Deposits
An $1,800 deposit is required to reserve your date. The balance is due 7 days prior to the event. There are no rental fees. Meals range $59–92/person. Tax and a 20% service charge are additional.
Availability
Year-round, both day and evening hours on Saturdays, and evenings only on Sundays. Rehearsal dinners take place on Friday evenings.
