Description
Specially designed to showcase events as well as art, Limn Gallery has become one of San Francisco’s hottest special event venues. The complex—an enclosed courtyard and gallery building—has followed in the successful footsteps of owner-architect Dan Friedlander’s other pet projects. He’s designed many buildings, including 30 restaurants—among them Napa Valley’s Tra Vigne and San Francisco’s BIX and Cafe Monk.
Limn Gallery is an urban oasis—sophisticated and stylish without being stuffy. You enter through an enclosed courtyard where touches of European craftsmanship and design abound. The courtyard is paved in hand-cast stones, each one made for its own individual spot. A decorative gate, potted trees and climbing vines with bright flowers will make you feel like you’re in a private piazza in Tuscany, enjoying a summer night. The evening air can be warmed by a large soapstone fireplace that also moonlights as a pizza oven, grill and rotisserie. A kitchen and food-prep area opens onto the courtyard through wooden barn-style doors that make for easy al fresco service, and add a dash of rustic Mediterranean charm to the setting. If you’re concerned about weather, the courtyard can be tented to provide protection from the elements.
The gallery building, two spacious rooms on either end of a large central hall, wraps around three sides of the courtyard. It’s sleek and contemporary, and showcases museum-quality art and design exhibits. Floors are sealed concrete and walls are natural plaster. An elaborate track lighting system throughout enables you to add drama and atmosphere to either an elegant sit-down affair or a lively dance party. There’s a built-in, indoor-outdoor sound system, and Limn Gallery can provide you with lots of floor-plan ideas drawn up on paper to help you stage your event. Ample parking, public transit and freeway access from all directions are close by, making it super easy to find Limn Gallery—your ticket to an event with European flair and a South-of-Market twist.

Fees & Deposits
The nonrefundable $3,000–7,000 rental fee varies according to guest count and use of the space. To secure your date, half of the rental fee and a refundable security deposit (50% of the rental fee) are required. The rental balance is payable 7 days prior to the event. An extra charge will be incurred if more guests than scheduled attend.
