Why We Like This Place

When Granada Hills was founded in 1927, town members chose the name “Granada” after its sister city Granada, Spain. Although separated by thousands of miles, the two communities have similarities: Both are in the foothills of mountain ranges, and both have temperate climates—a quality making them prime candidates for outdoor weddings. Now, while we have no idea whether tying the knot is big in Granada, Spain, we can say without hesitation that it’s a popular pastime in Granada Hills, California.

One of this city’s best-known wedding locations is Knollwood Country Club, an affordable public golf course and clubhouse with a friendly attitude. Ceremonies are held outside on a trim lawn backed by pine trees and the rolling fairways. You can say your vows under the open sky beneath a metal arch, which can be ornamented with flowers, tulle or even pine boughs. And, speaking of pines, there are so many around here, you can almost imagine you’re getting married in a quiet mountain meadow.

After the ceremony guests walk over to the newly renovated clubhouse, an unpretentious, fieldstone-faced building with three event spaces. Here they sip cocktails in the private bar area, while you and your new spouse take pictures under the trees. The reception follows in the spacious Granada Room. With its unadorned white walls, this room easily adapts to your event theme and color scheme. Plenty of light comes from dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as faux-candle fixtures hanging from the high ceiling. The Granada Room also has its own large built-in dance floor with a mirrored ball overhead.   

If your event is on the smaller side, or if you need additional space, there are two other more modestly sized banquet rooms: the Gallery and the Fairway. Both are neutral-toned rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows; the larger Gallery Room also has a fieldstone wall and its own bar.

Next to the relaxed golf-club setting, it’s the ease of planning an event here that draws couples to Knollwood. Wedding packages cover lots of items, like your choice of linens, tray-passed hors d’oeuvres and the cake (with cutting). Choose the Platinum Package, and they’ll include chair covers with sashes and assorted pastries! Although Knollwood provides a wide selection of menu options with its packages, the catering staff is happy to customize a menu to meet your specific needs.

And since Knollwood is a public facility, you can integrate a little golf into your event if you want to. Grooms frequently schedule a morning tee time to loosen up with family and friends on the wedding day.

Granada Hills is known as “the Valley’s Most Neighborly Town,” and you might say that Knollwood is its most neighborly wedding site. You don’t have to be a member, or even a golfer, to get married here, and they take such good care of you, you may end up feeling that wedding-wise, you’ve definitely hit a hole in one.

Fees & Deposits

A nonrefundable deposit, which is applied to your food and beverage total, is required to reserve your date. The amount of the deposit is equal to 25% of the estimated event total. 50% is due 6 months prior, and 100% of the final estimated balance is due 10 days prior to the event date. Meals start at $44/person. Tax, alcohol and a 20% service charge are additional.
