James Leary Flood Mansion

Description

The Flood Mansion is a symphony of classical styles—Italian Renaissance, Rococo, Tudor and Georgian. This elegant building, constructed in 1915, has remained well-preserved since Mrs. Flood donated her home to the Religious of the Sacred Heart in 1939. Although the building is now used as a private school, it’s available for special events after school hours and on weekends.

The Mansion is impressive: its Grand Hall is 140 feet long with marble floors and great views of the Bay; the Adam Room, near the entry, has a high, ornate ceiling, specially designed wood tables and chairs, and a marble fireplace; the architecturally complex Reception Room boasts a magnificent coffered ceiling, painted murals in golds, blues and greens, and a parquet floor. And, weather permitting, a pretty enclosed courtyard off of the Grand Hall is available for outdoor gatherings. The Flood Mansion is definitely the place for a stately and elegant party.
