Why We Like This Place
Fusing Latin American flair with Southern California beach-resort style, Hotel Maya is the realization of successful author and hotels-with-heart entrepreneur Chip Conley's newest vision: a full-service boutique hotel located right on the Long Beach waterfront. Set on eleven acres facing a dramatic urban skyline, it's a find for brides looking for value and four-star touches in a lush, tropical atmosphere.True to the "each hotel should be one-of-a-kind" philosophy of Joie de Vivre, the firm Conley launched in 1987 with his first venue—the wildly popular, rock-and-roll-themed Phoenix Hotel in San Francisco—Hotel Maya is the antithesis of bland or cookie-cutter. Stepping into its colorful lobby, you'll know at once it's a place designed to celebrate the joy of life.
Appealing to all five senses, the hotel's Mayan-inspired décor is vibrant and highly textural, with such unexpected touches as a dumbwaiter in the foyer where sangria and tequila drinks are delivered. With nine fire elements, 420 towering palms, and lighting that enhances its warm ambiance, the distinctive property simmers with energy infused with a citrus scent washed by ocean breezes.
Rehearsal dinners and post-wedding brunches are held in the comfortable Luna or Solstice Rooms or in Fuego at the Maya, the hotel's inspired restaurant with a breezy waterside deck. Acclaimed chef Jesse Perez, who specializes in authentic coastal Latin American cuisine, will choreograph your meal using the finest ingredients in delectable combinations. However, if you'd prefer another type of food, he's happy to customize your menu.
Two spectacular outdoor ceremony areas both offer water's-edge views. With its luxuriant, tropical foliage and misted waterfall, the Jardin de Palmeras is an exotic setting overlooking a city that has experienced a recent renaissance. Larger groups are accommodated in the adjacent Esplanade, shaded by a striking Australian umbrella and offering a Zen-like vibe and views of Shoreline Village and the historic Queen Mary.
After you've posed for photos (that fabulous waterfront does make the perfect backdrop…), receive guests on the Miramar veranda, where they can sip champagne while admiring twinkling city lights and the dramatic bridge spanning the port. Host a sit-down meal in the elegant Miramar Ballroom—Long Beach's only waterfront ballroom with an infinity deck—or, for larger groups, the spectacular Salon de Reyes.
Whatever type of affair you have here, Hotel Maya is a destination resort where your guests can enjoy themselves for days: There are lots of activities including sailing excursions, sand volleyball, bike rentals, tennis, and nearby attractions via the Long Beach "aqua-bus" or Passport Bus. After spending your first night as a married couple in your plush oceanview room, you two may choose to board a ship at the nearby Carnival Cruise Line terminal or sample more of life's pleasures at any of Joie de Vivre's eclectic boutique hotels throughout California.

Fees & Deposits
25% of the total event cost is required to reserve your date and the balance is due 5 business days prior to the event. Rental fees range $1,500–3,000 depending on the number of guests and the space rented. Packages range $65–90/person. Tax, alcohol and a 20% service charge are additional.
Availability
Year-round, daily. Weekend evenings: 5pm ceremony, 6pm for cocktail hour and 7pm–midnight for ballroom seating for dinner and dancing. Weekend daytime: 11am ceremony, cocktail hour at noon with ballroom seating available for lunch and dancing from 1pm–4pm. Weekend evening weddings book 1 year in advance, weekend lunch events available to book 6 months prior to the event date.
