Cypress Sea Cove

Why We Like This Place

Poised on a flat bluff overlooking the wide blue backdrop of the Pacific, this two-acre, oceanfront private estate is an exceptionally dramatic setting for any occasion. Beauty greets you at every turn: majestic Monterey cypress are silhouetted against the sky, an acre of velvety lawn spreads all the way to the end of the bluff and on summer nights the cliff-edge gazebo is backlit by the setting sun. The nautical white Victorian home, reminiscent of the East Coast Hamptons, is generally not available for events, but the gorgeous grounds leave little to be desired.

Most events are held on the bluff’s expansive lawn. Here a large brick patio beneath towering cypress trees makes an excellent spot for a buffet setup, and every table on the grass has an ocean view. The white gazebo, spacious enough for the bride and all her bridesmaids, is a classic frame for wedding photos and a perfect place to display and cut the cake.

For smaller receptions or seaside ceremonies, walk down through Palm Canyon to the secluded beach patio, where young Marilyn Monroe attended many luaus. As you descend, you’ll see hundreds of phoenix, Mexican fantail and date palms, some of them over 100 feet tall! The “Swiss Family Robinson” patio, really a series of three, lushly landscaped brick and adobe terraces that end on the sand, is an intimate and romantic spot to exchange vows. The couple stands with their backs to the crashing surf, while guests seated on the palm-shaded lawn have a view of the sea. The patio also boasts a delightful bamboo cabana. With canvas rollback windows and wired for sound, it’s the perfect place to spend an evening listening to your favorite music, sipping mai-tais and watching the moon drop into the sea.

Cypress Sea Cove hosts many types of events, including corporate barbecues and private parties, but the estate’s owners have a particular fondness for weddings and provide a cottage just for the bride. The owners can also suggest several experienced wedding and special event planning companies that will help make your event worry-free. This stunning, waterfront setting is truly a little piece of paradise found.
