Why We Like This Place
Built by Leland Stanford in 1888, this landmark building in the heart of the Peninsula has had a long and illustrious past as a working winery, dairy barn and cattlemen’s association headquarters. A handsome, three-story brick structure shaded by mature palms and softened by ivy clinging to its walls, it now houses offices, the California Cafe and attractive retail shops.One of the last reminders of a time when Stanford was a farm, the Barn is a survivor of a bygone era. It stayed intact through the 1906 quake and luckily avoided the wrecking ball during the urban encroachments of the 40s, 50s and 60s. And even though the Stanford Shopping Center, Hospital and University have mushroomed around it, the Barn still stands, its exterior virtually unchanged since it was built.
The southwest portion of the ground floor and adjacent wind-protected courtyard are available for wedding events. A set of doors opens onto a landscaped courtyard, perfect for seated ceremonies, outdoor receptions or champagne and hors d’oeuvres. It can be tented for year-round comfort.
You also have your choice of two private rooms: The Stanford Room has neutral colors and plenty of windows, as well as sliding glass panels that open to the Main Dining Room; the Cafe Room features double glass doors that open onto the Patio. The Harvest Room is a semi-private area with exposed brick walls and lofty open-beamed ceiling that give it a chic-rustic ambiance.
This facility is the answer for couples hunting for the perfect Peninsula location: a garden spot with an interior space that can handle a large group—even when the weather proves uncooperative.

Fees & Deposits
A $500 deposit is required to reserve your date. A portion is due 90 days prior to the event and the balance is due upon conclusion of the event. There are no separate rental fees. Meals range $20–50/person. Tax, alcohol and a 20% service charge are additional.

Year-round, daily except Christmas Day, 7am–midnight. Hours are subject to change per space.
