Description
Located 45 minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge in the heart of Sonoma Valley, the 100-acre B.R. Cohn Winery offers a romantic, turn-of-the-century atmosphere. Olive trees, whose graceful branches shade the road leading up to the winery, are a fitting introduction to this pastoral site.
From the top of the hill, it’s just a short walk down to the outdoor Amphitheater, a spectacular ceremony site with a large stage and terraced lawn. Couples exchange vows on the stage, beneath an enormous oak tree. Behind them is a stunning natural backdrop: acres of lush Cabernet vineyards and full views of the Sonoma Mountains. Guests seated on the stage or lawn have the perfect vantage from which to enjoy the lovely panorama.
If you’re smitten with the view, you can have your reception in the Amphitheater, too. But most couples prefer to dine in the Olive Grove, back up the hill near the Tasting Room. Partially enclosed by a white split-rail fence, the Olive Grove is a superb spot for an al fresco celebration. More than a dozen 130-year-old French Picholine olive trees shade an expansive, level lawn. Flowers make a colorful border, while tiny lights woven throughout every other tree add nighttime sparkle. Although this grove is most often used for receptions, it’s an equally beautiful ceremony spot.
At this winery, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to give your wedding a creative twist. The first bride ever married here made her entrance in a covered horse-drawn carriage. After the ceremony, the newlyweds enjoyed a leisurely drive around the grounds, and then the carriage took groups of guests for festive rides through the countryside. With its numerous possibilities, peaceful setting, fine wines, and friendly experienced event coordinator, B.R. Cohn Winery is definitely a superior spot for special events.
