Why We Like This Place

Bluewater Grill possesses the two most important things a classic fish house should have: a congenial waterfront setting and first-rate, affordably priced seafood.

Located right at the edge of King Harbor, the restaurant overlooks hundreds of colorful boats bobbing at their moorings. Locals have been coming here for years to dine—be it in the main dining room, at the oyster bar or out on the patio—and watch the sailboats and other pleasure craft come and go.

Bluewater's ambiance is exactly what you would expect: Vintage photos of fishermen with their prize catches adorn the walls, and there's a tank full of soon-to-be eaten fresh lobster next to the main dining room. Teak floors and tables throughout are complemented by polished brass fixtures, completing the nautical theme.

Two private dining rooms with harbor vistas are available for all types of events, from rehearsal dinners and wedding receptions to business meetings and birthday parties. The Captain's Cabin, with its curved, wood plank-and-beam ceiling and wood wainscoting, brings to mind the interior of a turn-of-the-century sailing vessel. Guests often dine at a long table, as they might in the captain's quarters on a ship, but you can arrange the seating any way you like. During the day, floor-to-ceiling windows on the harbor side let in lots of natural light along with the view; on cool evenings, a fireplace at one end adds a warm glow.

The Avalon Room upstairs hosts larger groups, and this is where most wedding receptions take place. Wraparound windows and a high, peaked ceiling lend this space an open, airy quality. White walls and wood trim provide a neutral background for your choice of décor. One couple did the whole room in white, finishing the chairs off with black sashes; pink balloons and white parasols floated overhead. Another went for something more dramatic, dressing tables and chairs in black with red napkins and chair ties. Whatever mood you create inside, you'll always be able to look out onto the harbor scene and, if you're lucky, a glorious sunset.

The restaurant's on-site Event Coordinator will help you plan your celebration from start to finish. This eatery specializes in fish, of course, so their banquet menus offer a wide range of seafood dishes (we've heard that the Coconut Fried Prawns are not to be missed!). However, non-fish lovers will find plenty to tempt their palates as well, including a variety of chicken and steak options.

Bluewater Grill is within walking distance of many of Redondo Beach's hotels and beaches, making it convenient not just for events but for a great lunch or dinner out while you and your guests are staying in town. As one reviewer put it, "Exceedingly fresh fish, fair prices, and nimble service make this site a winner."

CEREMONY & Meeting CAPACITY: The restaurant can accommodate 100 seated guests.

EVENT/RECEPTION CAPACITY: The Captain’s Cabin holds 60 seated or 80 standing guests, and the Avalon Room holds 120 seated or 150 standing.

Fees & Deposits

A $2,000 deposit is required to reserve your date. A portion is due 90 days prior to the event and the balance is due at the end of the event. There are no separate rental fees, but food and beverage minimums may apply. Meals range $25–30/person for luncheon and $40–55/person for dinner. Tax, alcohol and an 18% service charge are additional.
