Description
The shiny red ’56 Chevy pickup parked at the end of Bent Creek’s private drive signals that this is a working vineyard, but this young winery in the heart of the Livermore Wine Country is much more than that. It’s also a prime spot for an outdoor wedding or event.
Birdsong—starlings, mockingbirds and sparrows lend voices to the chorus—greets you as you step from your car. The antique crusher and old oak wine barrels arranged in front of the woodsy tasting room remind you, again, that winemaking is the business at hand. So is merrymaking. On one side of the tasting room is an excellent gathering place for arriving guests: a grassy area furnished with wrought-iron chairs and tables and green-and-white striped umbrellas set amid young olive trees. On the other side is a small pavilion with green tables and chairs, just right for smaller buffets. The tasting room, with its big windows overlooking the vineyard, is perfect for collecting gifts or sequestering the cake. But don’t stop here.
Head for the rear of the Mediterranean-style vintner’s home to a comfortable entertainment area with a meadow-like feel. There, a large gazebo backed by a curtain of white oleander looks out over a grassy expanse bordered by pebbled walks trimmed in agapanthus, potted geraniums, poppies, white jasmine and cheerful yellow gazanias.
The gazebo, large enough for a string quartet, is an excellent site for exchanging vows, too. Your ceremony or musicians can also be accommodated beneath the ancient and awesome oak tree that marks the entrance to the vineyard. And while there’s plenty of room here for your entire celebration, you might want to opt for an even more rustic wedding location. If so, take your guests on a very short walk toward the winery, through rows of vines hung with ripening clusters of syrah grapes. Small solar lamps on the end posts of the rows mark the path, even in darkness, and less mobile guests can be ferried via golf cart along an alternate route.
Nestled in the lee of a live oak-studded hill, the patio, steps and driveway of the winery building provide a largely undeveloped, delightfully Arcadian setting for your outdoor event. There are plenty of possibilities for creativity and event staff will be happy to help you personalize the space. You can set up a patio grill and use a tented area for a head table or buffet. The winery steps make an excellent platform for performers or for a ceremony. The truly adventuresome couple might even consider getting married at the top of the hill. With commanding views of the surrounding countryside, it’s a breathtaking spot for tying the knot.
Whether you’re saying "I do" beneath a centuries-old oak, chatting under the olive trees, or admiring the seven-winery view from "the ridge," you’ll find much to excite you on this handsome spread. Active guests will love strolling through the rows of Syrah grapes. Other folks can explore some of the trails via golf cart. For good times with family, friends and acquaintances, Bent Creek is a natural.

Fees & Deposits
50% of the rental fee is required to reserve your date. The balance is due 1 week prior to the event. Rental fees range $250–1,000 depending on group size and type of event.
Availability
The outdoor winery area is available daily, May–August noon–9:30pm. The indoor Tasting Room is available year-round for small groups Monday–Thursday noon–9:30pm and Friday–Sunday 5pm–9:30pm.
