Description

So…you’re planning an intimate party for 1,000 of your closest friends. You want to be near the beach, and have gorgeous views, and you’d like someone to hold your hand while you’re planning your event. Where on earth can you find such a place? Avila Beach Resort! This is a golf course with a special events facility, the largest on the Central Coast. It’s an exceptional destination for banquets, weddings and other celebrations, affording breathtaking panoramic views of Avila Beach, Avila Valley and the Pacific Ocean.

The primary event area is an expansive, manicured lawn situated between the fairway’s ninth and tenth holes. From here, you can see for miles, watch the water ebb and flow out of Avila Beach and take in a glorious sunset. The lawn can accommodate up to 3,000 guests! And if you’d like an outdoor event with an indoor feel, set up a tent (or two!) on the lawn. Using a little imagination, you can customize the mood inside the tent, from glitzy and elegant to sultry nightclub chic. Tents come with clear-sided panels so you’ll always have a guaranteed beach view. The Resort provides a portable dance floor, and ample electrical equipment to handle any size band. And the close proximity of the tent(s) to Mulligan’s Restaurant means your guests will be served with a minimum of muss and fuss.

Nearby, inside Mulligan’s Restaurant, you can host a more intimate reception or ceremony in the cozy banquet room, which has a small fireplace. Mulligan’s is also a terrific venue for rehearsal dinners and company meetings.

Avila Beach Resort can handle the grandest parties with ease. Some of the events it plays host to every year are the KCBX Wine Classic, the Memorial Weekend Beer & Blues Festival, Pops by the Sea Concert, and many jazz concerts. What brings them back time after time? The loveliness of the setting—especially at night, when the lighted tents glow like giant lanterns against the dark background of the ocean.

And the service. No matter how large or small your group is, your guests will always feel well taken care of. Much of the credit goes to event coordinator Linda Renfrow and her staff, who’ve worked together for years. They’ll spare no effort to make sure everything is perfect, down to the tiniest detail. Recently, a classic roadster club rally was held at the Resort, with dozens of pristine show cars on display. To prevent any dirt from settling on those precious vehicles, Renfrow’s staff were busy hours before the rally, sweeping every drop of water from the entry drive with push brooms, so that nothing would splash up on the roadsters. If they’ll do that for mere machines, imagine how they’ll treat you!

As full-service caterers, they’ll customize your menu, hunting down recipes if necessary to create the dishes you want. They’ll also help newlyweds make their getaway in any one of several conveyances: limousine, horse-drawn carriage—even a hot-air balloon! No wonder Renfrow and her crew were chosen by Strictly Business Magazine as the winner of the Best of Business Banquet Services Award. It’s unusual for a facility that serves large numbers of people so effortlessly to retain its warm-and-cozy quality, but this one does. And that’s the truth.

CEREMONY CAPACITY: The lawn accommodates up to 1,000 seated or standing guests. Indoors, Mulligan’s holds up to 120 seated.

EVENT/RECEPTION & MEETING CAPACITY: The patio tent holds 120 seated or 200 standing, the lawn without tents up to 3,000 seated and the lawn with tents 150–1,000 seated or 3,000 standing. Mulligan’s Dining Room holds 50 seated guests.

Fees & Deposits

For special events, a nonrefundable $500 cancellation deposit is required when booking the site. The site rental fee ranges $600–3,000 depending on guest count. The anticipated food and beverage total and site rental fee are payable 7 business days prior to the event. Any menu can be customized: luncheons run $10–18/person, dinners $22–40/person; alcohol, tax and a 20% service charge are additional. Tent rentals can be arranged, and run $800–5,000 depending on tent size.
