Adobe Lodge

Description

The Adobe Lodge is the only structure to have survived the 1926 fire on the University grounds, and it remains the single structural remnant of the original 1822 Mission Santa Clara. It has been remodeled extensively, but still has a Mission-era flavor. To reach the Club, you stroll through the Old Mission Gardens and under an ancient wisteria-laden pergola. This particular vine deserves mention because it’s breathtaking, with 150-year-old trunks the size of small trees. In the spring, the pergola overflows with color. In fact, all of the landscaping flanking the entry path is delightful. Everything from the palms dotting the lawns to the multi-hued roses and pansies is perfectly maintained. There is no traffic noise in this interior garden, only the sounds of the birds.

The Spanish-tiled Adobe Lodge building is surrounded by a vine-covered porch, and inside the main dining room is formally resplendent in cream and burgandy. The Club’s outdoor patio is inviting and intimate, with Chinese elms providing dappled shade overhead. These indoor and outdoor spaces create one of the most attractive reception sites we’ve ever seen—it’s one of our favorite places in the Santa Clara Valley.

CEREMONY CAPACITY: Ceremonies do not take place at this venue. Mission Santa Clara is nearby and hosts ceremonies. Call for details.

EVENT/RECEPTION CAPACITY: The Main Dining Room holds 100–125 seated guests or 200 standing; the adjacent Porch seats 24; the Patio holds 40 seated or 90 standing. The Mission’s Gardens can accommodate 150–600 seated guests during warmer months. Tented events can be arranged.

MEETING CAPACITY: The Main Dining Room accommodates 80 seated theater-style; the Private Dining Rooms seats up to 12 guests.

Fees & Deposits

For wedding receptions, a nonrefundable $1,800 rental fee, which includes use of the facility for 4 hours, is required at the time of booking. A final guest count is due 10 days prior to the wedding. Food services are provided. Special wedding menus for served or buffet-style meals, including passed hors d’oeuvres, range $53–89/person. Customized menus are also available. Alcohol, tax and an 18% service charge are additional. The food and beverage balance is payable 10 days prior to the event. Extra hours may be arranged at $300/hour.

For other special events and business functions, the rental fee ranges $25–450 depending on room(s) selected. Fees are based on a 3-hour rental period; additional time can be arranged for an extra fee. Prices for breakfast meetings and luncheons vary depending on services requested.
