Description
Morgan Hill Cellars is comfortably ensconced at the end of a quiet country road. From its stately Italian-Mediterranean architecture to its cheerful garden patio, this family winery exhibits a charm you’d be hard-pressed to find anywhere else in the area. The original winery, which had been an important part of the Morgan Hill community since 1913, burned down in 1996 and has been replaced with this stunning new facility, custom-made for anyone seeking a romantic spot for a wedding, reception or other festive celebration.
Weddings and parties can take place on the sunny garden patio. A border of mature fir trees and blooming shrubs ensures privacy and gives the space an intimate feel. The patio is covered by a large wooden pergola painted a refreshing shade of white. Appropriately entwined with grapevines, it filters the sunlight, keeping everyone comfortable. For wedding ceremonies, your guests are seated here, affording them a close-up view of you as you float down the aisle towards a flower-bedecked wedding arch. After exchanging vows, have your pictures taken against a lovely backdrop of a velvety green lawn, fragrant jasmine vines, a majestic olive tree and colorful flowerbeds.
While your photographer is capturing the moment, your guests can relax and mingle in La Fenice Tasting Room and browse in the Gift Gallery amid a host of wine-related items such as hand-painted wine glasses, wrought-iron wine racks, fine linens, tapestries, and other beautiful accessories for the home. The Tasting Room and Gift Gallery offer a pleasant atmosphere with their splendid Italian-Mediterranean decor featuring mellow gold and terracotta walls, tiled floors, a beamed ceiling hung with Tiffany-style ceiling fans, and redwood tasting and “party” bars.
Then it’s over to the new Black and White Ballroom where tables and chairs have been set up for dining, dancing and celebrating. The black-and-white tiled floor and creamy draped walls are the perfect background for any color scheme, and the high ceiling lends itself to a festive balloon drop.
The winery’s event coordinator and project manager like to describe their facility as being “family style with a touch of elegance,” and we heartily agree with this description. The winery abounds with exquisite artistic details such as the hand-painted grape-cluster friezes that decorate the winery’s exterior, the elaborately carved handcrafted back-bar, and handsome tapestries depicting scenes of the Italian countryside. Even the bride’s dressing room, outfitted with sheer curtains and lace tablecloths, shows the same attention to detail you find throughout the facility.
But Morgan Hill Cellars has more going for it than good looks. Their policy concerning vendors is very flexible, they can do custom bridal bottlings of their vintage wines, they provide a large outdoor barbecue area, and the entire property is handicap-accessible. And although you’d never know it from the peaceful country surroundings, Highway 101 is less than two blocks away.

Fees & Deposits
50% of the rental fee is required to reserve your date. The balance is due when you sign your contract. Rental fees range $500–2,500 depending on your guest count.
