Why We Like This Place

  • This authentic 12th-century monastery is truly awesome. Transported to the U.S. in the 1920s by William Randolph Hearst, this sprawling stone marvel was finally re-assembled from 11,000 crates in the 1960s…and it was well worth the wait!
  • Its three chapels and five gardens are uniquely spectacular. Indoors or out, each ceremony site offers an air of joyous celebration. Plus, the monastery happily welcomes nondenominational, interfaith and civil ceremonies.
  • The ancient arched Cloisters add a sense of grand history to your reception. These covered passageways surround the courtyard, and when set with flower-bedecked tables they could easily be a scene taken right out of a romantic foreign movie.
