Why We Like This Place

Paso Robles’ historic downtown combines everything you love about wine country communities: Friendly folks, a lively mix of shops and restaurants, and plenty of tasting rooms. And while wine has always been important to the region, Paso’s original prime attractions were its fine weather and healing hot springs. During the 1920s, Paso became a fashionable destination for movie stars, famous athletes and even President Theodore Roosevelt. Today, the town’s legacy of upscale hospitality has been rekindled in a luxurious two-for-one banquet facility: The Historic Park Ballroom and Park Place, where discerning couples are invited to celebrate in high style.

These chic venues are housed in neighboring landmark structures. The Ballroom occupies the entire second floor of the handsome bricked IOFF building, which dates to 1912 and has recently been spectacularly renovated. The newly launched Park Place resides in the iconic Acorn Building, known for its acorn-topped clock tower. Originally constructed in 1892, the Acorn was completely rebuilt in 2006, though its brick façade and ornate tower still retain their original turn-of-thecentury character.

Just steps away is a lovely bonus: City Park, a photogenic greenscape with a water court and quaint gazebo, perfect for an al fresco ceremony. Afterward, while the bridal party lingers for scenic portraits, guests stroll to the Ballroom for cocktails.

The Ballroom is also well suited for indoor ceremonies. Friends and family make their way up to the smartly outfitted foyer, where a wet bar serves up welcome refreshments. Inside the Ballroom, chairs are arranged facing a proscenium stage. Couples exchange vows on the apron in front of light alderwood doors that run across the curtain line. After the first kiss, the doors dramatically slide open to reveal the maple-floored stage, already set with a bar and appetizers.

Guests mingle both on and off stage, taking in the sophisticated yet warm setting. A row of arched windows lets in natural light, casting a soft glow on the pale butter-hued walls and alderwood wainscoting. The rich carpeting is patterned with oak leaves, a unifying motif that’s subtly woven into the décor throughout this dual venue. Crown moldings and antique-style fixtures recall the heady days of Prohibition, when the Ballroom is rumored to have hosted wild parties into the night.

When it’s time for your own party, everyone gathers a few doors down at Park Place. Guests enter a formal mezzanine before descending to this glamorous, underground reception space.

Park Place’s Deco-inspired aesthetic captures the cool sophistication of a Jazz Age supper club. A dynamic trio of adjoining salons begins with the Lounge, which boasts a long granite-topped bar and cozy sitting area. Next comes the Dining Room, whose swanky stylings include wrought-iron chandeliers and stamped metal embellishments. A grand piano stands at the ready, and on one wall, three framed flat-screen TVs display your customized visuals. After dinner, kick the festivities up a notch in the corner Club, where your DJ or band rocks the house from a raised hi-tech stage as revelers let loose on the adjacent dance floor.

For weddings, rehearsal dinners or any special occasion, Historic Park Ballroom and Park Place offer flexibility and vintage elegance, all in one neat package.

Fees & Deposits

50% of the total event cost is required to reserve your date, and the balance is due 14 days prior to the event. The rental fee ranges $2,500–5,500 depending on your guest count, and includes tables, chairs, place settings, 1 security guard and 1 bartender. Ceremonies are an additional $1,500. Special weekday and nonprofit rates are available; please contact for details.
