Questions and Answers

What 3 words best describe your work?

Feminine. Lush. Unique.

Tell us about your company name.

My company name and branding are based around botany. Because I have a degree in horticulture, I wanted our style to emulate the feel of an old botany book. The word Botanica means of, or relating to, plants or plant life.

Why should someone hire you?

Each client and project we take on receives the utmost care and attention to detail. We not only help with florals, but we also have an extensive rental inventory and help in selecting linens and tying together the overall look.

What drew you to this field/how did you get started?

I personally created my first floral arrangement in the 4th grade...my parents actually have the photograph! Throughout high school I became very involved in floral design and horticulture, and that was the start of my passion and career.

What are some sources of inspiration or influences on your work?

I get inspiration from everywhere: nature, fashion, interior decorating, fabric, art, you name it! That’s the beauty of creativity! Sometimes our clients may bring us a runner they are working with, and then we piece out how everything else will tie in around this—from what the bridesmaids are wearing, to the floral pieces and selection of plant materials to use.

Tell us about a favorite, unusual or very interesting moment at a wedding:

Each wedding is so unique; I love it when our clients really personalize and infuse their style into their special day. An example of this would be that one of our clients was a rice farmer, so we incorporated rice florets into their personal flowers and boutonnieres because that had a significant meaning to them.

What is the best advice you give a couple when planning their wedding?

Weddings are really about the love a couple shares, and to celebrate and rejoice this love. It’s always great to see a graceful couple who can sit back and enjoy, and take in the day because they’ve hired professionals. Try not to get caught up in the details of projects you think you need to DIY. Instead, hire professionals who you can trust to bring things together for you, so you can really enjoy the day!

What's your favorite marriage advice?

Communicate, be open and honest. Treat your partner as you would like to be treated. Show appreciation and gratitude.

Extracurricular activities:

Flea market and estate sale shopping, interior decorating, refinishing furniture, running, baking, cooking, and of course, spending time with family and friends.
