Hanna Hartnell is a designing woman who has that special fashion savoir faire. She understands that elegance means quality fabric, fit and workmanship, and she’s adept at bringing out each woman’s “inner chic” by choosing (and custom-making!) just the right gown for her. So naturally when Hanna talks, we listen!
Her recent newsletter reveals the latest fashion trend for wedding-related get-togethers—the short dress:
Living in California we expect fashion artistry for our posh parties, including rehearsal dinners, engagement parties, bridal showers and day-after wedding brunches. Short and sweet has captured an enchanted place in the wedding story.
Charming georgette frocks began their life years ago in the 1920s, but I saved one or two from a Paris flea market and tweaked the designs into irresistible fashions for today. My new short and sweet chiffon dresses are a little innocent and a little naughty, but 100% feminine. Just the thing for the all-important rehearsal dinner (Hip restaurant+his parents meet your parents+an oh-so-stylish frock=Rehearsal Dinner Success!)
Another bonus: A short dress can have a life after the wedding, and it’s also a perfect second-wedding choice.

Yes. Yes. I just like it short. I know it’s a tradition to wear long dress on wedding day. But why not a change now? I would like to get on something shorter on my big day. A short dress can be elegant as well.
