One of the best parts of my job is managing all the reference checks for the wedding professionals who want to be Certified By The Guide. I’ll admit it’s fun putting them through their paces, talking to countless industry folks and tons of brides for each company. Some don’t make the cut, but those who do are absolutely fantastic!

After hearing all the raves about these new wedding vendors, I’m so excited to share them with you. Here are our latest and greatest for the month of February:

Jubilee Lau EventsNorthern California

  • Back to Earth Organic Catering brings a sense of purpose and connection to everything they do, endeavoring to effect positive change through food. They are a Certified Green Business, and enrich all their events through their commitment to sustainability.
  • Denon & Doyle have been in the event entertainment business since 1984 and are now the largest mobile disc jockey company in Northern California. They have a passion for entertaining—which is why they expanded their services to include lighting and more with Denon & Doyle’s San Francisco Photo Booth.
  • Jubilee Lau Events is more than a boutique event planning company; Jubilee is your thoughtful, trusted advisor through the planning process. Whatever your planning needs may be, Jubilee has the knowledge and experience to make your wedding planning peaceful and fun, while ensuring that your wedding day is everything you envisioned.
  • MB Wedding Design and Events does more than just coordination; they truly design the entire event. As one industry professional notes, “MB Weddings delivers jaw-dropping designs every time.”
  • While exploring the international culture of flowers throughout Europe, Thailand, Central and South America, Emily of Soulflower Floral Design developed her unique design sensibilities, which include the use of textured, organic materials as well as found objects and reclaimed or recycled elements.

Jenny McNiece FlowersCentral Coast

  • As a longtime surfer, Mike of Mike Larson Photography’s approach to the ocean and photography is fresh, vibrant, and full of passion for life—and the entire team at the studio reflects that as well.
  • Melinda of Festive Designs always looks at the whole picture and ties everything together. She is one of the rare florists who makes certain that even the DJ table is decorated. She is very thoughtful and always looking at the whole picture
  • Colleen of Colleen Rosenthal Photography explains her guiding philosophy this way: “I find that if I come with a good attitude and pay attention, my clients will show me what is appropriate, funny, lovely and uniquely themselves.”
  • Jenny of Jenny McNiece Flowers will personally hand you your bouquet and pin on bridal party and family flowers, making absolutely sure that your flowers are perfect. As one vendor noted, “Her customer service is grade A.”
  • The mother-daughter team at Adornments is the perfect blend of experience and innovation, creating contemporary wedding designs that suit each individual client. Adornments always strives to reinvent themselves, incorporating new concepts into each event.
  • As Laura at Touch of Style says, “We live and breathe food, flowers, music, photography, locations, the latest trends…We enjoy streamlining budgets, scrutinizing all the little details, and bargaining with vendors to make your event run like clockwork.”
  • Camilla of Camilla Svensson Burns Floral Styling manages to delight her clients by translating their visions in ways that are both unexpected and yet hit the exact notes they aspired to achieve. As one bride told us, “The best part about working with Camilla was her creativity.
  • Together, the fun-loving husband and wife team of Photography by Jimmy De enjoys capturing the beauty and joyfulness of each couple they work with.
  • With their years of experience working with all types of parties, Jerry Craig Disc Jockey Sound Company has developed the knack of reading the crowd, making sure everyone is having fun.
    Vanilla Bake Shop

>Southern California

  • A husband and wife DJ and MC team, Jeff and Jennifer of Gold Dust Entertainment have worked with hundreds of brides and grooms. While they are a full-time professional wedding DJ service, they continue to work the scene at premier Hollywood hotspots. Some of their noted clients include Hillary Duff, Fred Segal, MTV, Yahoo, and Bravo Network.
  • The name “Vanilla Bake Shop”, came from Amy Berman’s time in culinary school where she learned that vanilla is the most universally loved flavor. Vanilla Bake Shop wedding cakes and desserts have been featured in magazines such as Los Angeles Weddings, The Knot, Bride and Bloom, Modern Bride and Bon Appetit. The New York Times, Dr. Phil and Martha Stewart have also sung the praises of Vanilla Bake Shop. At the 2008 LA Cupcake Challenge, Vanilla Bake Shop’s Red Velvet took first place for “Best Traditional Cupcake.”
  • Don of Donald Norris Photography offers a photojournalistic style while still capturing traditional family shots—the perfect combination for a creative bride and demanding mother. The one thing we hear the most from Don’s clients about his work is the exceptional quality of the finished product—the wedding album.
  • Kate of Kate Baker Floral Design has a special knack for vintage-inspired work and shabby chic design, but she can create just about anything! Ultimately, her goal is to match your vision and exceed your wishes for your special day.
  • Jackie of Jackie Combs Floral Design’s philosophy is to make her clients’ dreams come true through creative collaboration, making sure that every last detail is attended to and assuring that her client’s vision becomes reality.
  • With their years of experience working with all types of parties, Jerry Craig Disc Jockey Sound Company has developed the knack of reading the crowd, making sure everyone is having fun.
  • The stylish Your Wedding Day magazine taps Camilla Svensson Burns’ skills to design something sensational in almost every issue. This is no surprise, considering her inspired use of interesting flowers, fine ribbons, fruit and other non-traditional materials. Her designs have also been seen in Grace Ormonde’s Wedding Style magazine.
