Getting Ready for the Bachelorette Weekend

I’ll admit that trying to juggle working at Here Comes The Guide, moonlighting as a floral assistant, and planning my sister’s bachelorette party/bridal shower for the past 6 months has been exhausting. As a reward, I decided to treat myself to a little relaxation before gearing up for my sister’s event.
My favorite day spa is Burke Williams, and it just so happens to be on my way home from work. If you haven’t been to Burke Williams Spa, you are missing out, my friends. This is the mecca of day spas. As their website says, “Our singular purpose is to immerse you in our soothing waters, luxurious surroundings and gracious hospitality.” Trust me: they live up to this every time I go there.
Last night I had an eyebrow wax, bikini wax and an express facial. My aesthetician, Sadie, was so amazing that I’m already planning another appointment with her! Bikini waxing is not my favorite thing in the world, but when you’re going to be in a bikini most of the weekend, I consider it a must. I had mentally prepared myself for the pain that comes with the usual bikini waxing, but when Sadie was done I didn’t even know she had started! That was definitely the least painful bikini wax I have ever had.
The express facial was a soothing way to end my my session, and my skin has never looked so healthy. After my appointment, I retired to their locker room/relaxation haven to soak in the spa whirlpool and let all my stress melt away. It was the perfect ending! Today, my skin is glowing and I feel recharged enough to go to play hostess for the weekend.
While I was at Burke Williams I couldn’t help but think how fun it would be to bring all your bridesmaids there for a day of pampering. I highly recommend you check it out. They have locations in San Jose, San Francisco, Mission Viejo, Pasadena, Sherman Oaks, West Hollywood, Orange, Santa Monica and Torrance. I also just learned that they’re getting ready to open up a new location in Danville.

Burke Williams is a wonderful spa. It has various offers such as Massage, Day at the spa, Nail care, Body wraps, skin care etc. It has branches in various places such as Danville, Orange, San Francisco, Santa Monica, Torrance, San francisco etc
It’s only one weekend. Fly in Friday and if that night is the Bach party and all day Saturday will be the bridal shower, that’s the whole weekend right there. They fly out Sunday.
Can anyone tell me what I need to do to prepare for getting a bikini wax. Should I trim my hairs? How painful is it. Some people have told me to take painkillers before hand does this help?
Hi,
Yes I’ve done that… once! It is rather painful. That said, it only hurts for a few moments and the results last longer than shaving. Definitely take over-the-counter painkillers before, and have a glass of wine after! It does help to trim your hair to 1/4”, but I imagine any good aesthetician will handle that for you.As with a facial treatment, you want to do this a few days in advance of your wedding or other big party. Some people do get those little red bumps. Everyone will react differently. You should feel free to call the spa in advance, and ask if they recommend any additional prep.
Good luck!
By the way you describe the experience you had there i wouldn’t mind to give it a try. My skin is shining, i always make sure it gets the right treatment, but i would go there just for some relaxing session.
I have used Chanel skin care products for 8 years. For years, it worked wonders. I still don’t have any visible lines. And I don’t want to get any lines. I heard from a friend of my mother’s that I should change my skincare regimen every season or every year. I am wondering if there’s any reputable brand except for Dr. Brandt, Clarins and Clinique that will help my skin shine, become luminous, and prevent wrinkles from appearing.

Denise, I’m wondering how long after the bikini wax you can actually wear a bikini…I mean, isn’t that area rather tender for days? I wouldn’t know, as after my first and only foray into the professional bk wax lo some 20 years ago I was too traumatized to ever repeat the performance!
