If you wouldn’t be caught dead wearing something from last season, why would you serve food that was as just as passé as those Ugg boots gathering dust in your closet? As Californians, our desire to stay in vogue is not limited to our wardrobe. Since we come from a state with an abundance of wine, cheese, organic produce and other goodies, we also tend to keep up with the “in” foods—while watching our fashionable figures, of course!

This Year's Hottest Food Trends, from Divine CarolineAs you map out your rehearsal dinner and wedding reception menus, take a peek at this year’s hottest food trends. After all, you don’t need anything else to compete with your Uncle Sal’s inevitable fashion faux pas.

I must admit, I still love my Ugg boots! But I wouldn’t be caught dead serving cocktail weenies at my parties!

speaking of last season stuff, I sold my wedding dress to http://www.idonowidont.com/newsite.php, I actually did this not for fashion reasons but because my hubby left me (ha!), in terms of food, the trendy thing to have at weddings for guests I’ve heard is cupcakes!

Cupcakes were all the rage after Martha Stewart featured them, then they were over…now they’re back AGAIN, which marks really quick turnaround for a trend. I think people like the non-traditional aspect of the cupcake. Plus it reminds us of being kids again. So sorry about the way things turned out, Michelle. But think of it this way—when you meet the REAL Mr. Right, you get to have the wedding fun all over again!

So, just curious Jolene. If cupcakes were at one point deemed “over” would that mean somehow I shouldn’t have them for my event. How much should we care about trends being “in” or “out”?

Trends are fun, but they should serve as inspiration rather than rules that must be obeyed. ALWAYS do what you really want (if it’s in your budget). Do it with joy, style and personal flair, and it will be appropriate. And who knows—you could be the start (or revival) of another trend!

Great! I feel better. I am wedded to doing chocolate brown and Tiffany blue for my event next year, but then I heard it was “out”. I am going to press forward with what I love.

Good for you!
Now you’ll match the cover colors of our 10th Southern California edition Here Comes The Guide resource book!

This article is silly! This sounds like a horrible marketing slogan from someone who watches too much “Sex & the City”.

Using the word faux pas is faux pas… have you been outside lately? It’s 2008. There are more people outside with tattoos and facial piercings than those wearing Manolos.

Most people are going to buy what they can afford and what they know they like.

And there is NO WAY I am serving cupcakes or weenies at my wedding. But on a cold girls night in… I’m wearing my uggs!

Great tasty post on food. I get enough information about barbecue and grill. Thanks for your this kind information.
